i've read toms of post saying that carpeting an enclosure will cause

you to lose a db

and i've read post saying it's not true.

so what's the truth behind this.

i do not believe there is any correlation between carpet and volume. unless you're carpeting the inside of the box.

they're either 17 and dont knwo bettr or the people who convinced them just dont understand physics.......typically, no......unless u carpet 10 layers of the port, maybe yes...otherwise no...........

depends.

some people have gained decbiles by covering their walls\enclosures with duct tape, or even epoxy and sanding to make it smooth. others had no effect. carpet can dampen sound waves so i can see how it might effect this, but if you are talking about a daily driver, you wont notice it eaither way.

this is like 1\10 of a decible stuff.

i can tell by the question that you have no idea, so dont concern yourself, carpet it if you want to you will not notice anything besides cosmetics.
