myth or fact

Mostly a myth...

However, if you have a high powered sub with a large xmax, and the box truly is made badly (like not enough wood glue or bad joints), it is possible to end up weakening the box to the point of breakage...

However, I would have to assume that even a prefab Q-logic is builty relatively sturdy

If the box is built from particleboard instead of MDF...the chance of structural failure increases. It's simply going to flex more than a properly-built box made from MDF. However, I'm pretty sure Q-Logic does use MDF to build its boxes.

the box i wanna use uses 5/8 mdf do u think im safe for now without ****in up the box or sub

ill be using the type x on it for 1 month untill i get a custom one

I would use 3/4" instead of 5/8"...not because the box is going to self destruct or anything, but you'll probably lose output due to the box flexing. Unless you brace the hell out of it.

haha just a couple days ago i had a comp vr 15 pop halfway out of the box because the wood ****** and a couple nails ripped out.. proves you dont need much force if the box *****. dont buy ebay boxes.. glad it wasnt mine

fact

if you are running it temporarily i wouldnt worry about it cuz youll likely trash the box anyways. add some bracing to help it flex less and itll sound better for the month you have it

Throw a W7 into a Q-Logic particle board enclosure and it's done for ...
Not that I'm a huge fan of Q-Logic, Jmac, but they use MDF..not particle board.

EDIT: Your post in response to Jack was just a hair quicker than I was. Never mind then. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

fancynapkin solution? Add more screws, caulk the inside corners, and add bracing.

i dunno about htat.... screws dont do **** to the box. I believe that screws just hold everything together intill the woodglue drys ive taking all the screws out of my box.... that **** isent comming apart except with an Axe
