I don't mean to sound like an idiot or start a *****fest, but I truly need some opinions on people who have ACTUALLY heard the subs they are comparing. Basically I am considering getting an MTX 12" 9500 and would like some opinions on how one would stack up against say a XXX or w7, or whatever you may have heard that you think is a good comparison. I really love MTX (I dunno I just do) and have had good luck with all of their products so far and would really like to do an all-out MTX install. But, if it is totally destroyed by the XXX then I may reconsider. I also would like to get some opinions on how loud this would be vented/sealed in comparison to my current set-up which is slot-vented 2 L7's on a JBL 1201.1. Thanks for any and all input.

that 9500 will knock your socks off if you have the right setup!!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

In comparable installs, no a XXX wont kill a 9500. We could argue back and forth which is better (I have my opinion), but they are relatively close performance subs. Installation will make more of a difference probably than which of those two drivers you chose. If you want an all MTX system, get the 9500's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/iagree.gif.15d6c075ee8d3913ba26866d06993068.gif go with the mtx they wont let you down! if you are set on them they can be as loud as any sub out there relatively speaking.

Ported would be considerably louder, but let a shop(or someone on here who is very creditable) build you a ported box built to your needs...

The sledgehammer only gets loud with a mtx 9500 in it, because the 9500 is a strong *** sub, they're kinda shitty IMHO

Lol alright I just think they look nice with the fiberglass front and all. Any estimates to what a ported fiberglass box might cost me. (the shop here sucks)

I guess I could do that I already have the MDF and my dad has plenty of tools. My main complaint would be figuring out all the port info and whatnot. Seems like a PITA, a sealed box would be nothing (I have built a sealed with plexi and the works before without too much trouble).
