My visit to the local shop

I will take the expertise of my local shop over 99.99999999999999% of what I have read on the forums. The other .000000000000001% is reserved for a select few.
To the orginal poster, do you think it is possible that the installer didn't understand the reference of "the big three." Maybe he knows the wiring, but just isn't familiar with that term. I am not saying that the big 3 is a waste of time, just that just because he didn't know that reference doesn't mean he doesn't know something.

That line is priceless for a few reasons. Anybody can badmouth BB or CC or whoever. Does that mean they "mite" know something about car audio?

I wouldn't let the local BB or CC change a fuse in my car, but there are BBs/CCs out there that do good work.

I will give my local shop back at home some credit, they actually did know what they were talking about. They have been in business for about 15 years, and he actually knew most of the stuff I was asking about, like tuning of boxes and shit.. Next time I go back home, i'll see if I can't get some pics of his installs. He has one with about 15 PPI Pro Flatcones in the back of a cadillac deville. He's the type of shop owner that will tell you Audiobahn is shit, and he won't sell it.. Pretty cool guy..

However, the shop just down the road, their main competition, the guy told me that the subwoofer that you put in the box will determine the tuning frequency. The same guy also told me that the Orion H2 was the loudest woofer in the world.

My friend which owns his owns his own shop is great. He actually uses Car audio forums to learn. He even said he's checked this one out a few times. He knows about everything I've talked about with him, which my knowledge is limited but still pretty broad. He has some great installs!!! He also held the record for ICCA or w/e it is for loudest setup SPL wise or somethin' with his car a few years back. He has 4 15" Kove Armagedons in the back of a PT cruiser. It's frickin' loud as hell. You can't think when your sitting inside of the thing. Props to him at his shop!

But I don't understand why people dis BB and CC so much. They carry great equipment the people who sell it just don't know what there talking about. I mean for all those Type-R lovers BB is one of the biggest distributors of Type-R's on the market!? CC sells Kicker audio and Kicker amps which are both amazing etc. I personally am not a fan because if somethin' goes wrong I can't just talk to thme and they could help me but for the equipment it's pretty good.

Where i live the best buy guys now what they are talking about. They rather be selling something besides alpine and RF but hey a grunt salesman is just a pawn! But with CC the guy told me hes getting in a 700 watt amp and a 600 watt sub and that it will be the loudest in all san diego. I told him ill be giving my ava some 1200 and he said that i should start learning about RMS and that avas arent a name brand so they ****. While cc does sell kicker mtx and infinity it seemed to me that those guys arent even curious what else is out there. Almost like bush not reading the newspaper or watching the news.

i agree...well the ppl i experienced with seem like they wanna show off what they know...one surpirsing though is the best buy near my house..its the only best buy i know that the workers dont talk crap...ive came to know them and i also reccomend things to them too..they know they dont know everything and atleast they dont say bull to me...this is in canada though...

Can't speaker for anywhere else. But here "ma and pap" shops seems to have way better(knowledge wise and skill) sales people and installer than large companies.

As for bb and cc hmm lemme think. The newest BB here recently got sued for blowing up an h2. Yup guys takes his h2 to get an alarm next thing he knows its fried. Even my buddy who use to work there, ended up about suing best buy. He had an alarm installed. One week later the whole electrical system shit out. Took it to GM dealer and that was all the proof he needed to get BB to pay. I will never go to BB Crappy products that are way overprice and chitty service.

I know they **** and of course there employees are all complete dips! But thats okay. They still carry fairly decent equipment and especially the Type-R everyone on this forum is in love with. Not many people know better then to step outside of CC and BB and if they end up gettin' the Type R etc. they've gotten themselves some fairly good equipment. Yes the guys there have no idea what there talkin 'about but who cares. They can get there company sued then. I mean before I knew anything, I was looking around at CC and BB. Then I finally stepped out of those two and now I'm looking into high end audio.
