My very first slot port design.

I just tried to design my very own slot port design, and i think it looks like it should be correct, but being my first time, i think it may need some checking. If it's possible, i'd like for some of you experienced designers to double check this plan.

This will be for a 15 Fi Q / SI Mag 15

3.5 cubes after sub+port displacement. sub disp: .19cuft

Tuning will be approx 29.3hz

outer dimensions are 36.5" wide x 17" deep x 16.5" tall

port width x height: 3" X 15"

port length: 33.25"

here's a pic of the layout of the port. i drew a line through the center of the port for the port length... (hopefully that's the correct thing to do.)

sweet. I'm hoping that it's correct w/ minimal flaws. I hope to make more designs in the future, so i wanna know if i'm on the right track.

To put in the 45's i make an angle axis thats 135 degrees from the port board then make a line thats port width long on that axis. Then add another axis thats 90 degrees to that then draw a line between the two outside boards on the new axis. Then thats what size the big side of the 45's should be.

your port measurement is correct. i got 3.52 cubes net.

i got a 29.8hz tuning. but its not far enough off to make a major difference.

thanks for the reply. I understand the technique you did w/ the 45s, good info.

as for the volume and tuning, i'm happy with that result. they're not too far off. Thanks again.

how did you come up with the numbers for this box? pen and paper or programs...im dying to learn how to design.

i'm too lazy to use pen/paper.

i use two websites to help and then i use sketchup to lay it out and help w/ dimensions.

I use this site for measurements/volume help:

and a trusty calculator for port and sub displacement.

it was a little harder then i thought. Maybe because it was my first time, but it wasn't that bad. profundus-sanus approves so far, so this way works i guess.

the sub and port will be on the same panel. this design is for a scion xB, both sub and port firing upward.
