My tweeter died... I think...

I have an Infinity Kappa 6.5 component tweeter in/on my drivers side door that I happened to notice today isnt putting out any sound. It's not crackling or anything either, it's doing nothing. Any idea's what this could be? Obviously the problem is at the x-over or after, so it's either the tweeter, x-over or a bad connection.(possible, I MAY have forgot to tape up the tweeter/speaker wire connection in the door, the two open connections may have made solid contact.

Could connection the + and - leads damage a tweeter? I made the same mistake on the pass. door and it just crackled a bit until I taped them up.

Any ideas or comments are welcome!

if they touch it would hurt the amp not the speaker

if they touch your amp should go into protect mode. I dunno what effect a passive xover has on that though. My money is on bad connection

Found it. A week ago I had the door panel repainted at the dealership due to being keyed. Apparently they removed the interior door panel to get at the lock components and all. I found globs of the adhesive they use on the door all over the woofer and while removing the door panel, they simply jerked it off, severing my tweeter connections AND pulling the + wire out of the tweeter itself. Wonder****ingful. Thank you very much Mr. Goodwrench...

I took pictures of the tweeter connections and will be visiting them tomorrow morning. As for the tweeter, I think I can solder the wire back on and be done with it. Either way, I'm going to be looking forward to some cash for a new tweeter...
