my tuning freq......part 2

There is much more to a properly designed horn/tl hybrid enclosure than just the frequency of the line. I'm not even sure what that enclosure really is. Did you design and build it yourself?
no......bought it used from a member here. He had his XXX 15 in it, so I assume it was built to XXX 15 specs....all the info he gave me were the dimensions and the name "snailshell". I didnt think twice about buying it, since I needed a box anyway, but I gotta tell ya. It makes the sub POUND. Its DEEP, hits HARD as hell, and gets LOW too. I just wanna see how much more I can get outta my sub and amp.......and box changes are the only way I know how to do so.

its a snail shell, designed by John Nolte (in theory... lol)

that one looks home made, based on the plans that are around the net somewhere...

however, to buy one, it'd cost you around $300... yay. lol

yea......thats pretty pathetic.

Well, like I said......I tried to contact nolteaudio, and never got a response......so F them. I figure they could answer some questions.

I dont know who did the box, bit its extremely well made, just a little beat up from being in different cars. If you wanna build one, I can give you exact specs of mine, so you can do so, and see what it sounds like. I really am amazed @ the sound quality and output of my XXX 15 in this box. I just like trying different stuff.

Lemme ask this...........is it possible to put this sub in a regular ported box tuned to a recommended htz, and hit 145+ on 1600+- rms watts???

If so, i will just try a ported box and see whats up.

here's another pic of the box...............

anyone else running a XXX 15, can you please tell me some specs on your enclosures, and how sound quality, DB/output/ lows, and what power running it.

I would not know where to begin to build a box for that, that would have serious output mine has now.

yes it is. but alot of variables go along with scores. But def. possible.
yea....thats exactly what I'm afraid of.......dont wanna build something unless its been proven to pound......no sense screwing w/ my system if I cant get a new box to be better in all ways. Kinda like, "aint broke, dont fix"

You have a great box for a great sub man. I would rec. you just leave it alone. The XXX is a great sql sub, that gets very low. And you have a very good score to go along with that.

If what your worried about is scores, yes build a ported box tuned to a high frequency....a fart machine.

but if you want a loud daily driver...I suggest you keep what you have. If anything add some more power

Yea, I know about Nolte audio and whatnot but this one just looked different. I thought maybe this guy tried to make one himself and somehow lucked out with a decent enclosure at random.

Well I highly doubt you will get any higher than what you have and have it still be good for daily music. Also, there is no way in hell you would be able to design a decent snailshell or even horn enclosure on your own so stop worrying about this one.

understand.......wasnt gonna design a new one....just make changes from mine now based on freq.......ya know.........diff port size, ect.

Its officially left alone........back to my music.......

thanks alot, though errbody!!
