Is this sound dampening material any good?

Grace Ultra is butyl. Lowes should have it.
It is also called Grace Vycor.

37.5 sq. ft for $30. Not bad.

Lowes also sells a closed-cell foam HVAC product made by a company called “Thermwell.”

(http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=28929-1410-FV516&pad=true) It is a duct insulation that is available at many home improvement stores. It is 12” wide and 1/8” thick, and has an adhesive on the inner foam layer, with an aluminum backing that is flexible and easy to mold, particularly with a wallpaper roller. Cost is in line with most of the other 1/8” car-audio tailored closed cell foam products on the market, but the advantage to this being no shipping cost (but you do pay tax) and immediate availability.

I have used it and found it to be very good.

Man, I know what's going in my car now! Thanks for the tip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I will probably be using some Second Skin Sludge though along with the cheap stuff. For doors and stuff.

Vycor isn't the same as Ultra, some is butyl, some is asphalt. Ultra is very thin, so you will need two layers to equal most other products. It also doesn't have a foil constraining layer which serves a few pretty important functions, so you really need some foil that is at least 2 mils and preferably 4+ mils thick.
