My subs will only work wired in parallel

I bought 2 dc level 4 12"s off of my friend a while back, I was told they were dual 1 ohm subs and they were wired to 1 ohm, they worked fine then 1 day the left sub stopped working. a couple days later the other one stopped as well. I took them out of the box and looked at the wiring, and wired them a couple of different ways from diagrams i found on the web. The subs for some reason will only work while wired in parallel. When they're wired in series or series/parallel they will not move at all. did something happen to them, or could somebody please show me how to wire these subs properly. any help will be appreciated.

if you wired them correctly check all of the coils with a dmm if you don't get around 1ohm on each then the coils are more then likely shot.

Sounds like they may be history, and or your amp??This is what happens when you play with different configurations, not knowing the ohms law.,.What amp do you have?Are the subs DVC4 or DVC2, or DVC1, or SVC4, or SVC8?You may have also blown a fuse BANGING THEM MAXED OUT????

They are dvc1's and I have a sundown 1500D v.2 I know the amp is still good, the subs are working now, I just cant crank up the volume because they're wired at .5 of an ohm and that amp isnt stable at less than 1 ohm

They will do 1/2 with good electrical

Actually if my understanding is correct, if you wire two dvc1's in parallel they will come out at .25 ohms and the amp can not run that

if you have all 4 coils wired in parallel it's .25. it doesn't sound like you have all 4 coils working.

its wired to .25 you cant wire 2 dual ones to .5 ohm bro. better stop before your amp is history as well

sub one jump the coil # 1+ to coil # 2 - , then do the same with the other sub. then take the + from both subs wire them together and then to the amp, and the - of both subs together and then to the amp. should see 1 ohm if all the coils are good.

use a dmm and set it to a low ohm setting and check each coil. If they are good it could be a number of reasons you will have to check everything and figure out where the prob is. You need to give more info for a good answer. One sub blew then the other, how did you set the gain? If you are running at .25 ohms plus rise you better have the power to back it up. I would check each sub first and then figure out what you need to do.

Lol no I bet he popped a coil on each sub. This is why nothing happens when in series but they do when in parallel.
