So my subs haven't been sounding as loud as what they were when I first installed, my current setup is 2 Sundown SA-12 D4s wired at 1ohm w/ hifonics hifi1500d amp. A little background...When I first installed them they would make my roof shake pretty good and it just doesn't do that anymore, my dashboard lights dim when there's heavy bass. The other day my amp went into protect mode for the first time just 1 minute into bumping a song with heavy bass, I turned off the deck and it started working again but to me it didn't sound as loud. I don't know if its a voltage issue or if I already ruined one of the subs, their only 2 weeks old. Well im going to take it apart and check the internal wiring and check the subs. I doubt I fu**ed em up though cuz their pretty good and im sure they can handle more power......Any ideas greatly appreciated. Should I install a capacitor? wiring is 4 gauge for battery and 14 gauge for the subs

so many places to start....first check how each sub sounds if one is way softer than the other you might have a blown sub, switch out the wiring play the subs at 2 ohms individually and see how they sound and if they sound the same. If that doesn't get you anywhere theres more to check but I'd check that first. and get back to us....sounds like you blew one of them.....theres a difference in power handling between clean power and dirty power....dirty power will kill a sub no matter how good of a sub it is.

I'm very surprised NOBODY has said CHECK YOUR GROUND and check your COILS if one coil goes on one of those subwoofer it will send a different signal to your amplifier (or impedance) and it will protect your amplifier say you're getting like 3ohm it'd be a lot quieter and your amplifier would probably kick off.

Your voltage is your problem. You say your lights are dimming which means you don't have electrical to support your system. Check all your connections and make sure they are secure. If that's not the problem, then upgrade to the big 3 and if thats not enough throw another battery in the back.

I'd recommend upgrading electrical too but first off lets figure out whats wrong with your subs.
He says they aren't as loud as they were. I'm assuming since he is having electrical issues, his amp isn't putting out as much power as it was before and in turn his subs aren't as loud.
