My sony xplods sounded louder than my DC XL. NEED HELP!!!!!!

sounds like hu settings ive had to turn the sub on or up on the hu for people before with the same problem go through all the settings on the hu and there should be some for the sub make sure its turned on

i have not looked in to what u guys have said,but there was this kid i used to work with that had a 97 hatch back im not sure what car he had. this car got loud off of 2 sony 12inch subs in a prefab box off a crunch 2 channel 2xxxx watt amp . it did not sound so good but it was loud he was not bad for like 260.00 set up

only way this is even kind of feasible is if one was in the input the other was in the output.. with no rcas in the inputs no signal is received to play.. so the only noise that could come out is noise from the amp.. whines bumps hisses etc..

I would get a 9v battery and check the coils. Maybe there was a coil mess up at DC and the leads are reversed :dontknow:

Surprised it hasn't been said yet. But' date=' make sure your RCA's are in the proper places on the amp. In the "inputs" not in the "outputs" Also, make sure that the AQ is not in slave mode (has a little switch on the side)

doubt you would want to but you bring it to tampa I will check EVERY thing for free.. I like audio stuff and helping out.. Will check ohms gain rcas polarity h/u settings eq etc.. set it all properly and have you on your way in 30 minutes or so depending on whats what..

just get a ipod. Then a headphone jack to rca cable. Plug the rcas into the amp. Then play your ipod and turn the volume up on it.

See if that does anything. If not take the speaker wire out of the amp outputs, get a dmm and put the positive & negative leads on the speaker wire that you just removed from the outputs. Then check impedance reading on dmm.

If thats not the case hook up the xplods again and see if they produce sound. Just leave everything how it is and just put the speaker wire in the amp from the xpods.

also, make sure the leds on the amp light up green.

ummm turn the gain up on the amp? surprised this hasnt been said. lol turn the low pass down, the high pass uppish, the bass boost down, play some music on the head unit with the volume around 30, then turn the gain up and see if it puts out more. if not, press the turning knob on the head unit and scroll through the audio functions (bass, treble, blah, blah, until you hit "subwoofer") and make sure the subwoofer function is on and at 0. keep the bass at 0 on the head unit too so you dont blow anything prematurely.

I called it ^^ Same thing happened to my friend, wasn't playing anything below 125hz due to it being plugged into the rear output on the deck and was affected by the HPF.

Good question. I hope it sounds a lot better than some xplods but... you can never be sure when someone builds their own box.
