I wish I could cut the bed out and do a blow thru - but I work construction - and replace sliding glass doors / windows / and do hurricane shutter instalation and repair. so having 8 foot of truck bed is key... maby down the road a bit I might do a blow thru - as I always wanted to do one....
when I first started the sub box build - I calculated the 3 rear ports to be tuned at 32.5 hz and figured if my math was off by just a little bit - it would be ok since i was shooting for 33 hz.
but once I realized I had no where near enough port to let the box breathe properly - I added on the frankenstien port - that is 10.5" net of 4" inside diamater pvc - and the 3" pvc 90 deg. conector. I used my dremel tool sand all the edges on the 3" bend so it flows verry nicely in to the 4" diamater port tube. as for figuring out what the box is tuned to now....
anyones guess is as good as mine - so I guess I will have to stop by my local park and just play hz tones at the same level to see where im getting any peaks at.
but the pair of 10s running off my hifonics bx1605d at 2 ohm load to the amp = absolutely slams
and I see no sign of subs getting hot - or stinky so maby they are the old school good stuff....
time will tell.
about the front box - again im guessing here - but id say its tuned between 50 and 60 hz and that is where I have the crossover for my 6.5" pearless $10 woofers from
parts express in there. so I realley dont think the little 6.5s are doing any damage to my sub stage as I tuned the low bass out of them. they are just there to help the upper bass and midrange out.
as much as I hate 4x6 speakers - the factory engineers at gm decided to put them in my dash / and my rear pillars as well.
so I have the crossover basicly tuned from 200 ish and up for those - and they sound fine like that now that they are not trying to play any midbass / bass anymore... I realley do so much hate 4x6 speakers
I guess right now I am pretty satisfied of the outcome of the system build.
it beats pretty good now - the subs play loudly thru the range - the mids are on point - and the highs all match the same level of loudness so the system does not sound lopsided with bass or vocals... id say the mission I wanted to acomplish building the stereo sound wise has been met. I diddnt spend but maby $150 out of pocket on the goods. everything else I already had
the sub box has an ugly port on it - but o well. the truck aint so pretty looking either...
and since I cleaned the rust off the floor - and door rails - and painted the ENTIRE inner truck cab with bedliner I believe I have helped stop the rust problem - and visualy helped out the interior enough to satisfy my needs atm.
now if I feel like it I might do some boddy work to the outside and spray the truck with flat black paint
