My Setup - How Can I Improve?

Here's my temporary setup. I am looking to upgrade my sub. I went to a local customs shop and they said an older SPL 12" 1200 watt PMPO - 92db would be good. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

How much are you willing you spend.. you basically have the cheapest gear available. The headunits nice though.

1. What type of vehicle?

2. Would you be willing to dump the MTX prefab box?

3. What is the impedence of that sub?

I was being nice, but I'm not gonna recommend $2,000 worth of equipment if he wants to spend a max of $150

he most likely drives a Monte carlo.. would have to dump the box to actually improve his setup.. and who cares about impedance? That sub has gotta be the first thing to go.

i liek the obsidian with the box idea. then you have a good 300 dollars to spend your money on an amp, and you will likely spend about 200. so thats a 400 dollar set up.

Yeah for 200 dollars you can get some real nice amps on here... Might have to upgrade your electrical wiring depending on what you're powering that kenwood with, I wouldn't be surprised if that shop sold you 8 gauge wiring..

Yeah man other than that headunit your best bet would be to sell that equipment you have (other than headunit) to add to your allowable spending limit and then go with a good pair of 12" in the right box on at least 1k rms. That'd be a much better start if you could swing it.

All in MY opinion of course.

go with a fat *** 12 or 15 and yeah 1k REAL rms

Most 1k plus good amps take more than one run of 4 gauge. Each of my gt 28 takes two runs. Just one real nice 12 should be fine.
