My sealed box story, and ... thanks to everyone

I cant see anymore lol! Good thing I can type without looking. But have to say was a nice read and glad to hear that you got all those leaks. I am in same situation about car audio, but unfortuantly I take my car to my buddys shop and we both work on it together as he has been in the bussiness for years. Good luck with everything. Peace!

A shot of my box right before I sprayed the inside with the truck bed liner. This is also before I bought the 1000/1. The next pic is where my second 500/1 was stashed away.

I didn't like having to hide my 3rd amp under the amp rack. It just seemed ghetto to me. Sooooo.

I went out and bought a 1000/1. This works, and looks better than 2 500/1's.

Back onto the seal nightmare, but first, a little amp **** to keep you interested! A 500/1!

Onto the front of the box. The installer used cardboard/foil to make the mold. I ripped away as much cardboard as I could, and sure enough, I push on the subs and see foil moving. YOu can see the cardboard front of the box here.

I said enough of this and called a freind who came over with some resin. We ripped away as much cardboard as possible and went to work. You can see all that black truck bed liner again. This area was another major leak source and the liner just didn't do the job. We gooped it with resin and fleece.

Here is the second layer of resin/fleece

Enough of this, I went and bought some glass. I put on an additional 4 layers of glass and resin on top of the fleece/resin. Here is the finished, reinforced, leak free front side of the box. Solid as a rock now!

Is this classic or what? I used my 1000/1 box to soak the glass!

Here are some pics of where stuff is mounted.

THis is underneath the amp rack before I had to relocate the 3 farad cap due to the larger 1000/1

After the cap was remounted

Amp rack with the 1000/1 and 300/4

A couple of pics of my new subs, and 1 of my old

I don't have pics with the dub 6v2's installed yet, although they are installed at this time. Like I said above, I have to rework the cover of the amp rack with a new piece of plexi, and make a cut to the actuall wood.

Here is a couple pics of the way it will look when it is done. This is with my old setup, so it will look different in obvious ways when I am done.

Here is a pic of my Avic N2

And, last pic, a pic of my car, my windows are now tinted... much better look.

I hope this is enough pics for everyone. Let me tell you, this whole thing has been fun, even though it was roght at times. When I am completely done, I will post final pics.

All these pics and no replies. Either people are being nice and holding back, or no one cares! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif hahaha. Really though. Does this **** or what? I finally just this week found the last leak, and it still stemmed from that front fiberglass wall. I layed some more resin, makeing sure to completley seal things off this time, combined with some fleece. I guess it was a blessing in disguise, because the original fiberglass wall was way to thin anyways.

Oh well, at least I posted some pics!

I just put on the new plexi glass over the 1000/1 tonight and reinstalled the false floor. I have to cut the rear deck so the base can get through, and one last thing....... my trunk hits so hard that my cd changer is useless in there, so I ordered a brand new premier 6 disc and am going to custom install it under the glove box. Both spots under the seats are taken with brain units.

WHen I am done, I will post pics of the finished product. I thing next I will take apart the entire car and dynamat it! hahahhahahhha.... ya right!

sick jetta

Thanks!!!!!!!! Wait untill you see the new pics. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I wish I were there to hear it. Nice going on buying the 1000/1 for the subs.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

if a shop did that type of work(false floor, box) its horrible, if you did that its a difirent story . Jetta if the fiberglass is cracking if could be many things(they "winged" the mekp, got cheap resin, old resin) a lot of times installer will make fiberglass, paint it fine, later on mat will show through resin, it will start cracking, become brittle over time etc. Watch out man keep a eye and ear out for that CUSTOM FIBERGLASS SPARE WHEEL enclosure i got a feeling thats not the end of youre fiberglass nightmare.

I re enforced their fiberglass job. That is where you start to see the checkerd fleece. I then added 4 more layers of Fiberglass, and then anohter layer of Fleece/resin around all the rought edges. I don't think it is going to crack.
