it's the eclipse. it was changed pretty recently. it LOOKS fine, just has an old-gas smell.

Knocking is a BAD thing. You still in Houston? Get it towed to a shop before something worse happens.

So many possibilities to it. Timing chain stripped and grinding, something in the head grinding, crank is grinding, brearing went out and is grinding, oil pump went out...I have no idea, expecially on the new stuff that isnt GM.

My only suggestion would be get it towed to a mechanic. Let me know if you need anything at all.

ive seen cars run for years like that.......and oddly enough a couple were mitsu' lol. It isnt a GOOD thing to run like that though. No clue why it sounds like that other than low oil, or little to no oil pressure...

I remember that happening to a friend once, he had gas in the oil. I dont remember what it was though.

IIRC, it had something to with the rings and the Intake That was cracked. Ima try and call him later to see what it was. It was a Chrysler vehicle, which IIRC also makes Mitsubishi cars.
