my new ride... bling bling

If you saying that since its a truck it should be used as one...then what about all sports cars? Are you saying that if you buy a vette,astin martin, or whatever, and you dont drive it immediatly like it was in the indy 500, that its a waste of money?

I like to break my shit in before I fuk it up.

no, i agree that a break in (even though the manufacturers hardly recommend them anymore) is an absolute must when talking about those kind of vehicles. even cutom ones a person might build themselves. i would in no way endanger a b&b motor without a proper breakin...but after that.....hell yeah, it's on!

and i'm not saying that any car should be driven that way 100% of the time, but by all means, at least thrash it once in awhile as that's what it was built for!...what i'm simply saying is this...if you are not going to use it for it's intended purpose, don't buy it. get something you will use properly.

earlier i made mention to owning three new 4x4's..that's slightly wrong..that count is 4. my wife's new 05 trailblazer is a 4x4, but it's not intended for the offraod scene, though it will see some mud eventually. it's intended purpose is for getting mom and son to the school and grocery store when there is snow on the ground, and will get used as such.

but my 04 z-71 silverado does indeed go offroad as it's the offroad package 4x4 truck...why would a person drive it any other way?

i dind't say 4.10's wouldn't be affected ...but in ur previous post u made a statement that would lead one to assume that you had lockers and front and rear end work done, which would mean a gear swap. (this statement.."obviously you dont know the retail end of truck parts. bilstein, weld, custom bars, drivelines, front and rear end, lockers, " yeah, i left a chunk out, but it is irrelevent anyway)

and u said 12k for suspension mods, not any of the other add ons, but....i got my nerfs for $220...i did add in the cost of the programmer, k&n and exhaust..and even with all the other goodies...

well, point is this...if u paid 12k for all of that..u got rooked.

and if u think my daddy pays for my truck...roflmao......well, i'll tell u this...ask around this forum about me. i'm sure u'll run into one or two ppl who state that my daddy doesn't pay for anything....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

actually i didnt pay for it at all, my dads good friend spotted the tab, but the fact of the matter is, that when it left my dads close friends truck shop, it had 12k worth of work done. that is the value of it. you dont thrash a brand new truck well worth over 50k face value.

oh, and lockers on average are about 1-2k

a detroit runs about $400, installed about $650. noone makes a locker for the front axle that i know of yet. true, there are more expensive lockers out there, ARB air, eaton's electric locker, OX locker...but most buy the detroit.

i still think 12k is a bit much, but that's just me as i would have done the majority of the install myself. (all but any locker, unless i got a tru trac or something pretty much drop and go)

no, i think you are trying to justify something you didn't pay for. and yeah, your truck is a street queen. that's kewl, it's your truck. but it's in no way worth 50k. the moment you drove it off the lot and dropped it off at the shop, it lost about 20-25% of it's intial value. btw, where's the pics of this truck? i'd like to see it. and what model silverado? 1500, 2500?

but hey, what do i know? i'm only 33, have only bought 7 new vehicles (including a total of 5 trucks) since 1999, have only modified just about every vehicle i've owned in one way, shape or another. and as of yet, i've had noone pick up the tab. hopefully, this time next year, my 04 silverado will be in the air 6" with 35's under it. adn u can bet ur *** i won't pay 12k to do it, and it'll be in the mud every chance i get!

and i don't care if my truck cost $1 or $100k...if it was designed to go offroad, i'll be damned if it doesn't go offroad! vehicles liek the z-71, the fx4, the power wagon, the rubicon, the g-55, range rover, d-90 and i can go on....all deserve to be treated the way they were designed to be treated...look good monday thru friday, and get dirtier then hell come saturday and sunday!

but that's just me...and me? well...

Well I go four wheeling in my ML320 sometimes. Needs new tires, but the Yokohama Geolanders worked for nearly 80k miles. Now it is time for new tires. Need to be relatively quiet but still provide some good mudding capability. Don't want tires that look like mudders, remember this is still a Mercedes. My wife thinks I am crazy, but she made me sell my Jimmy and buy this for her, so when I need to hit the mud or climb moderate inclines, I take her car.

My dad's had BFG's on his truck for a while...excellent sand traction, relatively quiet ride on the highway (better than the Bridgestones he had on there for a while). Something like a BFG T/A would be my choice. I've got the Land Terrain version on the van right now, which is a slightly less aggressive tread, but it really sticks to the road in snow and ice.

Goodyear MTR's are probably a better mud tire, but I've read reviews that said they get loud...really loud...

Oh, and Uniroyal sucks.

Just my humble tire observations //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

mt-r's are loud..lol...very aggresive...

teh geolanders are an awesome tire!! excatly what that ml320 needs, especially since he's using it that way it should be!! and 80k on them? that's awesome..

the lexus suv thing has won four wheelers 4x4 of the year award like two years straight ( the touraeg finally upended it i believe)...both of those are $50k + vehicles off the lot....

Yeah, I can't remember the last time I got 80k on a set of anything...wait, that's because I don't think I ever have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

On occation I take my truck to some of the same places that the 4x4s go. I get stuck. I get wenched. I get to buffing. You could never tell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well when you invest your money in a brand new truck, (off the lot), then the next day drop it off for 12k worth of suspension work then dump a shit load of money into other things, you wont drive it through a mud pit the next day. i bought my truck in february, my other truck took my almost two years to get it off road.

post a pic up of your 12k suspension..........hahahahahahahhaha if u payed that, im sorry. for anyone who pays 12k for suspension....u **** at life. a COMPLETE custom bag job, body drop, show quality paint, and chop top doesnt cost much more than 12k LOL and thats all professionally done.

bags= 3 k-5k

chop top= 2-3k

body drop=2-3 k

paint=4k

15 g's for a PERFECT SHOW TRUCK. and thats overpricing the work thats done. and u spent that on suspension?
