this is a pretty interesting thread...
I bought an 04 Sierra this year. 1500 z-71. Took it out the 1st night and hit the trails. I'm in university this year so i can't lift it till next summer (probably). Nonetheless, I'm not sure if anyone else on this site works in the oilfield, but if you do you will undoubtedly see the abilities of even a STOCK 4x4. w/e brand it may be.
However, I have never been a Ford person. My old man got an 04 F-150 Lariat with the 5.4.
Everday he comes home and pleads to trade me trucks. And I laugh. thus far, 65000k, one of his valves has went and taken the top end, he gets gas milage in the form of 400k to a tank, my sierra gets 650. The other day he pushed the button to disengage out of 4x4 and it actually ground out about 3 hrs down the road... Also, on numerous occasions, his ignition simply doesn't work. Turn the key, nothin happens.
I know I'm gonna hear about how no one else has ever had troubles and yada yada, which I will in-turn perhaps believe. It's just another experience to tell about.
Trucks with 4x4 should be used to 4x4, regardless...
