And don't I know it! It's not ALL in the install, but a lot, and what ***** is I'm working with Chrysler's junky speaker mounting arrangement up atop the dash. Plastic, completely open, just two opposing 5.25" speaker mounting points!! I've got a couple 5.25" 3/4" thick rings and me and installer guy are gonna try to figure out the best quickest way to get these mounted up there. I'd love to build some type of good substantial speaker cabinets up there, but that's a whole project in itself (which I may do someday!)Now that you finally got them, hopefully the wait ends up being worth it. Remember it's all in the install
Pics of my new speakers on my living room table can't be found anywhere else. Envious? HA! And while I created an additional thread to 1) show off what I just bought and 2) I'm hoping it can give others an idea of what the REAL PHD speakers look like in their shipping box as opposed to all the fakes out there! I negotiated with Don (the only PHD rep in the U.S). who talked to the PHD corporation in Italy and got them to make me these, as I think PHD is discontinuing this particular model, probably because it didn't sell well enough to continue making and selling them.Seriously, you post pictures that can be found online and and start your own thread just for the pics? Your lame and your caravan is even worse. Happy saturday you mark *ss trick
Everyone's a critic! Yes I know what I SHOULD do, and for once again I am working with a deficiently designed and implemented Chrysler product, and trying to do the best I can.shoulda got the 6.5's and made that wooden ring for your doors instead of the crappy dash mount
Unauthorized, fake, whatever you want to call them. Yes, the first place I heard about PHD speakers was here on the Internet and someone was hawking some over-chrome plated speakers calling them PHDs off Ebay I think, and then when I went to the PHD website and saw pics on there of real onces, I knew the pretty chrome plated things offered on Ebay were FAKES!Didn't realize there was an issue with fake PHD speakers. I though the biggest issue was buying unauthorized.
I have a pretty good clue as to how things SHOULD be installed to optimize good/accurate sound reproduction. And I know my desire to retain the stock speaker locations in a vehicle under-designed for good sound reproduction is my biggest battle/hurdle for getting good/accurate sound reproduction. But I'm trying to do the best I can with what I have.Nobody here is envious. I'll guarantee that my $21 tweeters and $36 mids sound better than your PHDs, once you've got them installed. All because I wasn't too ignorant or full of myself to read up on how things should be installed for best sound reproduction.
not worth it. Much better stuff out there. It's not an issue of semantics, unauthorized is not the same as fake...Your "authentic" PHD speakers look excessively "chromy" as well, so I don't see how you can make a judgement call on authenticity based solely on pictures.
I was interested in PHD products for a hot second, but then I couldn't find easily accessible technical specifications or measurements of off axis response. So where are you mounting the tweeters?
You can't see how "chromey" my PHD speakers are from the pic I posted! How do you KNOW? Rhetorical, because you don't know. It's not an issue of semantics, unauthorized is not the same as fake...Your "authentic" PHD speakers look excessively "chromy" as well, so I don't see how you can make a judgement call on authenticity based solely on pictures.

There always is too! Better than what YOU have implemented too!not worth it. Much better stuff out there.
