I have 3 new 360 games in original packaging that I wanted to trade for same-value other games (or of course cash). I got them with bundles that I ordered online and not at Wal-Mart, but I thought that wouldn't be a problem since Wal-Mart accepts no-receipt returns all the time. Obviously I don't have Wal-Mart receipts for them.
So... I take them to Wal-Mart and as I'm walking in the door, it occurs to me that when you order a game online, they don't swipe the security device to disable it. Wanna know how I found out? The f'ing Wal-Mart security alarms started going insane just as I passed through the sensors. The PACKED Customer Service area, of people waiting to return things, all turn around and look at me like I'm trying to heist something from electronics. Great. Luckily there is one of those "greeter" old dudes right there. I think he saw me come in (I hoped). He gave me a return line sticker.
I wait in the line and finally get to the desk ***** and she fires off at me for not having a receipt then calls the Manager over who does the same thing, but takes the time to scan in the bar codes of my games and goes on to say, "for this much money... NO WAY are we authorizing this return without a receipt" and calls over her supervisor to back up her statement. Niiiiiiice. I love that. So, the whole time I'm trying to sweet talk these beeatches (mainly to kill time and distract them from...) I'm trying to get the games back out of their hands so I can de-security-swipe them on their little pad on the counter, but they keep pulling the games away from the pad because they know there's the f'ing security device in there. I finally act like I'm about to leave and they hand me the games back, at which time I turn back around and plunked the games down onto the pad and pretended to have another question. Whew! Just to be safe, I stalled a bit, until someone DID set off the security alarms, during which time I escaped through the sensors as to not make anyone think that they were in fact Wal-Mart's games that I was leaving with (since I obviously had no receipt with me to prove that they were actually mine, legally).
So, I just walked next door to Game Stop and bought a memory module and Madden 06. Lovely lunch break.
