my local audio shop is full of idiots?

It's honestly sad to see dealer's that don't know what they're doing, especially dealers that carries DD products. Do you have their phone number and the guy that you talked to? I can give them a call and clarify it for them.
Tuan
yea heres the number 678.541.0842 and i dont remember the guys name i just know that hes the guy " in charge" either the owner or manager or somethin like that. hes an older guy. just ask to talk to him. and i know its not collin

they would b right if u had 1 sub. i could see a shop that does not sell stuff like dd sayin somthing like that. mayb there not used to wiring there sh it down to 1 ohm. do they do alts there and wire up extra batterys?
they should be used to that. and yes they have a mini cooper project car with a 9518 an alt and a few batts.

wow they are dum but if you had 2 dual 2s and ran the sundown at .5 it would be alot louder and i dont care what dds they are you should not have been able to blow them on a saz1500 at 1 ohm enless you
clipped the piss out of them
right but they said specifically that the dual 2's can be run to one ohm. and yes 2 of them. and yes i was clipping the piss out of my amp. stock alt with low voltage drops. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

ok well to make a long story short i went into a place called audiowizards in buford GA. they are a dealer of DD. I bought my subs there and i blew one of them so i took it in so they could send it off for a recone. well they told me that I couldnt run two dual 4 ohm subs to a one ohm load and that was why my sub blew. i was like wtf? are you sure? they had me doubting myself but the people who work at some of these places never fail to surprise me. they said i could only run down to a 2 ohm load. this really had me confused. So i looked up the wiring diagrams and called them back and said i think that they were wrong and they tried to tell me DD's wiring for subs is different and that i need a dual 2 ohm sub if i want to run to a 1 ohm load. why would they tell me this?
Welcome to the CLUB!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I've been told dumber stuff than that.

they just hope that you re dumber than them and see if they can get away with that.

id go and ask them to draw a chart for you

like

dual 4 ohm would either make 2 or 8 ohm

so with 2 of those you would make either 1 ohm or 16 ohm... not that hard to calculate.

unless they just wanted to hook up one coil on each dual2ohm sub and leave other one for back up lol

I've had a person at a shop tell me sub companies should rate their subs at peak rather than RMS, because they can actually take that. For instance

"Memphis Mojo's are 4000w subs, they can take 4000watts, not 2000"

to this I said

"Because if you fed it 4000 watts all the time you would have just waisted that money, and had a blown sub on your hands"

in response I got

"If you are smart with that power they will not blow"

I left

which is what you should do if an audio shop feeds you information like this.

right. but they were not saying anything about impedance rise.
no they not anywhere near rightthey said they blew up cause of dual 4s but dual 2s would see **** near double the rms power but yes half ohm or with stiff electrical maby .25 but the shop still has no clue whats up or down im run my saz3500 at .3 daily
