is output greater in a t line than compared to a normal ported box?
That's like asking if a bandpass is louder than a ported box -- you can't really answer it without knowing all the details. Transmission lines will not drop off like ported enclosures do below tuning and will usually have better low end extension (or be louder in the lowest frequencies). It may not peak as high on a meter though as that's not what they're meant to do.

so im debating what to do next with my ssx 18,

so pick 1

1 take the extra time and strain to make that t-line expanded horn shown in post 7

2 make the t-line box displayed in the first post,

3 make a new regular ported box 6.5-7 cubes at 32 hz and a lot of port area

 
how is it playing? are u not happy with it?
i dunno hard to explain, me and others just feel it has more potential. it doesnt ever reach its mechanical limits in the box at over 3000rms before imp rise and we feel it should be louder at certain freqs not far below tuning like 32 31 33 we hear too much "sub" and not enough bass know what i mean

 
I dont know how to design them, but T-lines sound really cool. I had one in my Xterra with a DD 3515 and an IA 20.1 and it got loud and low with a unique sound.
the biggest problem unless its a mass loaded tline/ chambered tline, whichever you want to call it, is an extremely reduced power handling.

if he intends on running anywhere near rms to it, it needs to be designed different to help with loading.

Actually, the line will be loaded by the interior of the vehicle and power handling should not be reduced drastically.

The sub in my car is in a transmission line and it handles 1200rms better than it did in a smaller ported enclosure and definitely better than it did sealed. The sub has far more control from 18-28hz and won't bottom out around 40hz like it would in the sealed and ported boxes. The only place where the ported enclosure was better was around 30hz where it was tuned.

I have done that but with a Beringer mic. I don't have the spreadsheet I made with them though as it was on my old hard drive that ate a ton of data. All the measurements were done with the windows up and sunroof open and the meter at the head rest. I did a 1.25 sealed enclosure (Qtc of .707), 2.2 @ 32hz, and a tline with a 1/4 wave tuning of 35hz. All of them have similar top end roll offs around 70hz. With the reference point being 50hz, the sealed box was -3dB around 30hz, the ported box was -3dB around 27hz, and the tline was -3dB at about 17hz. The sealed box was pretty flat in its passband with a few peaks of about 2dB around 40-45hz. The ported enclosure had peaks around 35-40hz of about 3dB and the transmission line is flat with a sharp -1dB dip at 30hz and a sharp +4dB peak at 22hz while 24hz was at 0dB and 20hz was also at 0dB.

The sub had the best transient response in the tline and it was very similar to the sealed but just seemed tighter sounding. Power handling was the worst with the sealed box as it could bottom out at 40hz with a little over 500rms (sub is rated at 500rms). The ported enclosure would bottom out below 25hz with over 500rms and but could take 1200rms at and around tuning. The transmission line can bottom out below 15hz with over 500rms but was fine in the passband with about 1200rms but coming very close to mechanical limits around 30hz.

An interesting note is that the tline had the most change in frequency response with different window positions and vehicle speeds. Car speed and window positions didn't affect the other enclosures much at all. With the car totally sealed up, the tline loses the 4dB peak and the passband becomes very flat. With both windows half way down, the -3dB point moves up closer to 22hz and when they're all the way down, it's about 24hz. When the windows go all the way down, there is also a peak that spikes around 35hz and the peak increases when I'm going about 25-40mph. I've never measured it since I would have to do it while driving and I'm not that curious about it. I do know I can hear a difference and I never could with with the other enclosures.
