Yes this board is very SPL based but SQ should be a factor. For what you say about JL you make it sound like they are as great in SQ as Lotus and higher SPL than DD. Can't afford it? HA!

Hey i'm not going to say JL is the "best". I'm just saying they are great subs and you can't go wrong with them, why do people hate just because they are semi-popular?

Says the guy who started all this by claiming other people's brands "all ****". You are uneducated in this subject yet you talk like an expert, you are a hypocrit as you hate on other brands, and you are insecure about your JL Audio system or you wouldn't feel the need to try and down other people's stuff to build yours up. I feel zero need to bash JL in order to feel good about the pruchases I did make, maybe you should ask yourself why you cannot do the same.
I can afford any audio brand I want. Please spare me your superiority complex over the msrp of your equipment. If you are attempting to earn respect with us, you are in fact doing just the opposite.

I just wanted some suggestions for two subwoofers that would be on par with 13w7's. I'm prefer SPL over SQ and my front stage is ok for me, that's why I have not mentioned it...atleast for now. I'm sure it will need updating when I move up the db of bass.

I'm not an JL audio groopie or anything and I will never say they're the best in the world, because I haven't heard 80% of the brands that the car audio internet world praises. There's no place for me to audition the subs in actual vehicles because people just don't have them in my area, so with that, I'm not so quick to say hey XXX subs, RE subs, this or that.....I've never heard the things. I have to take the word of screennames with high post counts, that's just real. I understand the level of knowledge here, that's why I read and post, not because I want to start JL Audio vs The World. THe only reason I know about all of these lesser known brands is because of caraudio.com, caraudiotalk.com, and other web forums like that. I am open to suggestions, but I'd like that consistent quality that I've gotten from JL audio for 2.5 years.

Two 05 XXXs would be on par with the dub7. It's the only sub I have personally auditioned that does both SQ/SPL as balanced as the dub7.

Sorry for my contribution to steering your thread off track, my apologies.
I personally take no issue with people running JL Audio, its the people with the attitude its the best, or people who dont run it are merely jealous/poor that annoys me. Obviously you lack that moral flaw, so you wont ever hear me bash you if you do chose JL. JL makes quality stuff, no doubt. I think most people dont take issue with the quality, but rather the price difference between their equipment and competeing equipment. Even that is debateable, so to each their own.

Lastly, I didn't feel the original comment made by... I forget who... that said to chose something besides JL, to be different, was a slap at JL. If anything, it was a slap at their popularity. But even in chosing a brand alot of other people run, you can make it your own and still improve performance by building a better install. i have ran 13w7's. I liked them, but then again i got them for less than 500 each.....with about 5 hours or so on them when i bought them. I would not pay the price they want for retail. FYI, i had two eclipse(tc sounds) twelves in my truck that got just as loud and sounded just as good as my JL setup. I say sound quality was around the same, but others say it was better withe twelves.

I have heard some of the refrence series mb quarts twelves and they sound awesome and are relatively cheap, and get LOUD. They are the ones with the inverted surround, next time i am at my buddies house i need to remember the vids.

Other brands that i have heard with great SQ are SI MAG, and some type x's, but there are many videos and tests on the web that test and compare all kinds of woofers.....I have been dying to try one of the Crystal Comps in the wifes car...

I'm interested in TC sounds subwoofers. From the very lil' I know about sub stats, I'm impressed by their numbers. The TC-3000 seems like a great choice to get me at that 2,000w RMS milestone. I kinda wanna just buy them right now and keep them in the box's for that 08 Camaro.

I hate to let the forum down, lol, but I don't do install stuff....well atleast not all of it, myself. To some extent, I've probably done every aspect of installation except box building, but when I'm talking about going to spend $1,000, I get nervous. I have an ill feeling about Alpine, that's why I opted not to go with Type R's (I know how loved they are on this forum). I'm sure they're good and all, but I've heard one which was probably poorly installed and it was horrible. That's all I needed to denounce the brand in my mind (no offense Type R heads)
