Your credibility went out the window when you suggested Mitsubishi.Considering pontiac is no more.......and saturn? really?
Toyota has a metric boat load of recalls.
I would look at Honda, Mitsubishi, Acura, etc for reliability. Make sure you have a dealer close cause sometimes finding parts if it isn't domestic is a pain in the arse.
honda or toyota, but everything is still dependable on how well you keep up with servicing and treating the car
Calipers aren't wear and tear.No to the newer Hondas. I had an 08 Accord Coupe(the newer body style) and got it the week they came out brand new off the lot, and the brakes completely failed on me at 30k. Turned out a lot of the newer Hondas were having this problem and the redid the newer ones but didnt offer to fix the first models. Had to pay $800 to have the rotors, pads and calipers all replaced even though it was still under warranty cause they considered normal wear and tear. Have had a bad taste for Hondas since then.
Got me a 2009 Camry SE and love it. Comfortable as hell and look pretty **** good with some light mods. Mine runs flawlessly. The Camry's haven't been as affected as much by the recalls. The only one I know of is for a remap of the ECU to change the shift points for autos to increase fuel economy
Hell no to saturn and pontiac though.
I know. They said that because the brakes weren't properly maintained that it was my fault the calipers went out. I was like WTF? Shouldn't have to replace pads or anything else at only 30k. I was pissed along with a lot of other people. I was on the driveaccord.net forum and everyone was getting screwed by Honda with it. They ended up offering a $200 rebate, but only if you got it fixed the first time at a Honda dealership cause there was a class action lawsuit for it. Mine went out and I had to replace it all before that came out. I was driving through Denver one night on a date and went to stop and heard a loud pop and screaching noise and had no brakes at all. Thankfully I drove a stick and had time to downshift and hand brake it to stop. They had biased them incorrectly and the rears had no pressure and the fronts were completely gone. That should never happen at 30k. I wont buy another new Honda just cause of how bad they screwed everyone. Otherwise it was a great car, but that left a bad tasteCalipers aren't wear and tear.
I think the reason you see alot of Hondas and nissans, is because there's just that many on the road. I work in a Nissan dealership, I know the problems with nissans. But as a company, Nissan really stands behind their product. With that being said, I still wouldn't consider them the most reliable car on the road. And like I said. All cars have their common problems. Changing out all your fluids won't help your catalytic converter from getting stopped up. Won't stop your cam sensors from failing. Definitely won't stop electrical issues.working for a major service center i see more hondas and nissans come in the any other brand of vehicle... I personally drive a saturn with 110k on it and its still going strong! Any vehicle will be reliable as long as you keep up on regular maintenance
