My head unit plays, but no sound out of speakers.

I hooked up two 10 inch subs and 1200 watt amp in my truck. I tested them to make sure they worked by connecting the remote wire directly to my battery temporarily. Everything worked fine. Then I tried to connect my remote wire to the back of my head unit, but this would not power my amp. So i spliced into the blue/white wire in the back and connected that to my remote wire, but still got no power to my amp. I spliced into the red wire in my wire harness running from my battery and connected that to my remote wire. This finally powered my amp, but when I turned my head unit on, it would play the CD, but no sound came out of any speakers. I un-hooked the subs from the head unit and tried it again and still no sound out of my cd player. I disconnected my battery and checked my fuses. Does anyone know why I am still not getting any sound?

Thanks,

Aaron

So you are saying that you can use the radio and the speakers play fine, but when you switch to a CD you hear nothing? Are your mids and highs powered by the HU or are they amped? If all the speakers are amped, then I would say you have your remote on lead connected to the antenna, not the remote wire.

Do you get sound from your subs?

If your speakers are connected to the deck and they're not getting any sound then it's likely that the internal amp of the deck is blown. Which means you may need an external amp to power your speakers or get a new deck.

If you're lucky you're deck may have an internal amp on/off option and it may just be 'off'.

There are a couple of options. You can use a marine bt unit. They come in the size of a hockey puck and can mount anywhere. This is the marine unit.

There are bluetooth amplifiers. You can just use your phone or an I Pod as the music source and not touch the radio.
