my front stage needs help badly!

that could very well be where your harshness is coming from bro. reflections off of the windshield can make even the smoothest tweets give anyone a headache. With your budget you can definitely get better comps though and like you said sealing and deadening your doors will help midbass but you might want to move your tweets around and see what sounds best.
Im just so limited with tweeter placement. I did have the kickers uder the covers for a while but the cover opening was to small and covered half of the surface area of the tweeter and you couldnt hear them very well at all. then when i flush mounted them they went to being very harsh, went from one extreme to another.

Thanks for the help, i didnt know that reflecting of the windshield would cause the harsh sound. I will go back to the drawing board and see what I can come up with.

I will princ3cmo , im definately not in love with them enough to keep them! call dibs and we can trade for something as soon as they are removed. I know you got some goodies laying around.

have you considered custom kick panels? you could put your mid and tweeter in the kick and play with aiming to raise and center your stage. or try some tweeter pods on your door. Either way aiming and placement will be the biggest things you can do for your tweeters.

I considered pods in the pillars for a 3 way set up, might still be an option if I can do it without major modification. I want to be able to return the car to stock if I have to without having holes all over.

i was actually talkin to the guy with the boston sc65s when I said that lol , I am a boston acoustics fan for sure. I do have some kicker ssmb6s I plan on running as dedicated midbass though so I dont have an issue with kicker either

you may be able to use some double sided tape and make the tweeter pods still look pretty good on your door. As far as kicks, you could always find some stock ones on ebay I'm sure to return it to stock, although once you get it sounding right, I doubt you'll want to return it to stock for any reason lol

edit: just saw you said pillars. if youre worried about cutting the car too much (like me) then just do kick panels. typically midbass in door, midrange in kick and play with tweeter placements. but thats not always true, because in my car I actually prefer my midbass in my kicks, mid in door, and tweet on the dash. Its all preference really.

Yea, if I can make kicks work that would be the best route, if I can get my big *** feet in there without kicking them to much.

Do any of these comps come with a mount that lets you mount the tweeters in the same location as the mids? For if you have no place to install your tweeters?
HAT Imagine does. convertible coaxial type thing. Memphis syncs too. some people have also done what they called braxial mounting with any comp set, but it doesnt come with that option

I'd love to get some HAT Imagines then I bet they are like a million dollars tho lol.
like 250 new iirc. They're very highly praised and I dont think you can go wrong. Not my cup o' tea though. you should sell me those bostons so you can get some //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
