I was supposed to use 3/4" MDF but I took the sheet from the wrong pile and when I glued the box together I found out it was actually 5/8" MDF //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif I used Titebond wood glue to glue it together.

1.76^3 ft tuned to ~30.5Hz

How long do the fumes from the caulk take to evaporate? I want to mount the sub in there as soon as possible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The distance is 2" , is that bad?

I'll probably end up painting it with a few coats of black primer next week. No fancy glossy paint here since I know it would get scratched up quick. Might have to trim the end pieces first, home depot cut that kinda off so you can see them sticking out so they're not flush.

Yup, you need AT LEAST the diameter/width of the port for clearance...It's recommend a few inches past that...I usually do 1.5 the width/diameter.

x2.

anyways, really nice job man. but it looks like the baffle and back piece look like they extend over the top of the box. take some 40 grit/jigsaw/circular saw and take care of that. and then cover! nonetheless, nice first build man.

i'd also consider attaching a new baffle (which would cover up the port hole, and replace your port at the side of the box to give it more clearence. but you will need to watchout and makesure the port leaves enough room for the sub. good luck.

yeah my second ported box I ever made, I made the mistake of leaving not enough room behing the port... it was just a center slot port... Sounded like poooooop, didnt get the gain of a ported box at all. Had it in the car for about an hour trying to get it sounding ok, but then just tossed it and drove back to home depot for more wood...

first time measuring and cutting wood?
Home Depot cut it for me, they got 4 out of 6 pieces right. The 2 pieces sticking out were cut a little big.

I didn't put the port on the side or the top because I read that it should be on the same side as the woofer. I tried to put it as close to Alpines recommended size as possible. And http://mobileaudio.com/rac-faq/ stated to leave 2" in the back so that's what I went with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif @ the glue comment, there was actually way more glue dripping down but I wiped it down. The bottle said to use a heavy spread so that's what I did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's better, NOT to wipe off exess glue.

Let the runs dry, then take a putty knife, and use it like a scrapper.

Pops those little buggers off like nothing.

Hard as hell, sanding-off smeared glue
