Thanks to everyone on here that helped me with what tools to purchase to get started. Here are before/after pics of my first sealed box @ 1.25 cu. ft.

The table saw and some young coconuts for your viewing pleasure.

The cuts.

The subwoofer cutout and my makeshift compass on the right.

(First time using a jigsaw and router, also)

After checking everything, I noticed my measurements were a little off on my sides so i cut off any excess afterwards.

And after a few days of trial and error, everything is glued, caulked, clamped, and drying. I decided not to use any screws whatsoever to hold the MDF together. This is OK, right?

I can't wait to hear how it sounds. I think as long as it doesn't fall apart, I'll be satisfied. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Lookin good. I like the screwlessness. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Thanks. It wasn't for cosmetic reasons, btw. I just didn't want to risk splitting the MDF.

no screws=short lifespan
whys that? the chemical bond the glue creates is stronger than the actual wood itself. screws are just used as a clamping force for the pieces of wood but since OP is using clamps, if he lets the glue dry completely, he will have no problems as far as the box coming apart.

to OP, looks good for your first box. congrats

All went well! Been playing my IDMAX in it for a few hours now. No leaks and it gets plenty loud for me. Sure beats the old 2 cu. ft. box @ 40hz before I knew what it was tuned to.

And don't mind the mess... I'll clean it all up this weekend.

I'm going to go have a beer now. Cheers!

x2

Great looking box..

How much power u got goin to it?
you must like companies that end with dynamics...
LOL I didn't notice that... American Dynamics so happens to be the company that supplies DVR's that I install for the security company that I work for.

Got about 800watts RMS @ 2ohms running to the sub. A lotta power from such a tiny amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good job on the box. Titebond III is PLENTY strong, good choice.
How are you going to finish it?
Thanks!

I was thinking of carpetting it... but that's another thing I don't know JACK about :p could use a few pointers. I'm usually good at things I do for the first time so long as I stay focused and committed.

I'm also already thinking of my next project... either kick panels for Rainbow comps (can you believe they're charging $850 for a pair of these where I usually go for car audio equipment locally?) or a ported box for 2-3 1508's.

box looks great. Whats the maximun rip of that table saw? I just got done building my 2nd ported box and I have a small table saw like yours but its by ryobi. Good thing I work at homedepot and can use their big saw because the cuts I had to make were beyond what my table saw can do right now...lol

Hehe I know how you feel... now I wish I bought that big Ridgid one, but I don't have $400-$500 to spend on just a saw.

Large cuts are doable on small saws.. it's just that you need a coordinated friend or two to help.

Hehe I know how you feel... you're lucky you work there. Sometimes I wish I bought that big Ridgid one, but I don't have $400-$500 to spend on just a saw.
