My first look at a Hifonics BXi1206D

sounds like you should try buying used
After doing this stuff for a living... I started to realize that 90% of car audio owners abuse the piss out of their stuff. Plus if you buy it BNIB you generally get a warranty as well as a solid proof of purchase.

I generally dont buy used too often.

And while you got the amp used..... hifonics are WAY cheaper compared to rockford BNIB.

RF 1000.1 = 390-600 on the internet BNIB

Hifonics 1208D = 175 on internet BNIB

So if you bought the hifonics used for 150, you got a shitty deal IMO.. coulda got the new 2008 model for 25 more dollars.. brand new. But you got a great deal on the RF, was a steal.

Im just saying.... you kind of manipulated the price figures

I dunno about the comparison test but I can vouch for the T3002. I had one for a while and that thing was a beast for it's rating. Probably the most under rated amp I have ever owned. Cant beat it for the price.

I'm tellnig you the prices I paid, granted somebody might have gotten *** ***** or a steal on some stuff, but I'm telling you how it went down for me.

New prices on ebay for hifonics is 204

New price for the rockford is 334

based on ratings this is the most underrated amps I have ever seen, ( anything thats rated for 1/3 of the power it produces is pretty **** well impressive)

I still don't see why people see that somethin is underrated and immediately consider that good...so you're saying if Hifonics sold the 1206 under the name 606 with the 606's ratings it would become a great amp? Overrated/Underrated doesn't mean a whole lot except confusion as to how much power an amp truly puts out.

Also, I'd really like to see a test on a 2607 or 2608, because I can't hear my 2607 clipping when its set with a dmm to 60-65 volts on a 2 ohm nominal load, if it is clipping, its pretty **** minimal, and thats at 1800+ rms when its rated to do 1700 @ 2. I'm confident in saying it doesn't clip at all at 16-1700rms @ 2 ohms. While that's not running it to its fullest of what it claims to do, I'd be surprised if it can't do at least 2500 at 1 ohm. That's all at more like 13.3-5 volts btw, not even 14

my two cents

true that rashadd, my 2607 at 1 ohm is just as loud as kx2500.1 when we hooked my shit up to his buddys amp

AND we got less voltage drop on the 2500 because it was wired to 2 ohms, so who knows

word, and I'm pretty sure its known that kickers are very efficient amps to begin with, so lack of power will affect it less

my 2607 still goes into protect now and then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif don't know whats wrong with it

but it actually is doing it alot less now that its wired to 2 ohms instead of 2.67:confused: loud as shit regardless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and it rarely goes into protect anymore in the 30-40mins at a time max that I listen to it so thats good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thats true, being underrated doesn't mean much of anything except they built an amp and stuck a smaller number on it, it's all marketing. But I can actually say I have had a ton of Rockford amps and they seem to be built pretty good. I've never had to send one back. I have a couple about 15 years old that still sound just like they did new. I don't abuse my amps/subs though, none of mine have ever seen much clipping or low voltage:)

It is widely believed the 07 and 08s are a little stronger than the 06s
hifonics even admits making small changes after 06
I've heard of this too, so I'm trying to get my hands on a 1208 or 1608 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

for sure, I'm in no way saying RF amps aren't great amps, even without personal experience with them I'd trust them based on the general consensus on them

nonetheless, hifonics is a great way to go if you don't mind an amp that isn't super efficient and (questionably) maybe doesn't quite do what it says it will, and would like to save 1/4+ of the purchasing price

Yeah I wasn't bashing you or anything. Nothing wrong with Hifonics if your on a budget, I ran a 1606d for a while and it did a pretty good job, never cut off on me or anything.
