My first large setup.... 8 low power 12's. Box???

Well my AQ sub finally let go so I was thinking of a fun solution to this summer. Looking for a setup that can sound good on rock, get l9oud, do it cheap, and is good for a little shock n awe

Anyways. I was thinking of doing 8 12's. The Hifonics HFi12D4

NEW PAIR 1200W HIFONICS HFi12D4 12" Car Subwoofers/Subs - eBay (item 230337916678 end time Apr-14-10 02:07:11 PDT)

I was planning on giving each set of 4 about 1500rms, being conservative on the gains.

I dont and cant find much about these subs though, what size box they like, port area etc.

Anyone used these with cheap success or failure yet??

8 12's aren't going to shock and awe anyone. That is done with small subs or a single sub with incredible output. 8 subs are bound to disappoint. It happens every time. People buy a ton of subs wanting to really be loud and someone with 2 12's in a nice install kill them in the lanes.

I dont chase numbers, and theres no one around here to "kill' my install. I live in a small town and as far as Ive seen my HDC on 3k was BY FAR the loudest. Just not an audio town really. Ive just been through so many installs being bored the last 2 years and Ive never tried a setup with more than 4 subs.

And since I dont have a lot of money and this is just for kicks (but if it sounds great Id keep it all summer)

Just looking for something different. SO something like 16 cubes would be alright for the power level I wanna give them?? port up sub back or anything else could do it better?

I could probly wall them off sealed behind the front row.... as I can make 8 12's looks pretty cool in a sealed wall, but I dunno how that would sound0

Heres a good spec sheet from the manual

Does that help what I should tune or keep my box sealed?? Im up in arms here what to do

Im not using thos jensens lol

Ive heard 2 of these hifonics sealed and they sounded pretty good. But I was just wonderring what 8 would sound like, ported or sealed.

I can wall them and seal it and make it all pretty with fiberglass since its sealed...

Or I can go sub up port back and port the fuker...

Honestly, those Jensens are not horrible as they might seem. Id say they rate fairly close to the Hifonics. But they surely wont handle any more than rated thats for sure! lol

Your going to take the time build this gigantic enclosure w/ fiberglass, and your going to use shitty bottom of the line subs? What's wrong with you? The only thing that's going to shock people is why you spent so much time and used such crappy equipment.
