Found this model called JVC KD-G611:

- MP3/WMA

- 24-bit resolution DAC.

- HS-II tuner

- DAB Ready.

- MOS-FET

- subwoofer line output

- front aux input. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I really really like the look of it. Very clean and stylish. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/driving.gif.c4dead4599dda895032b63e51f52b126.gif

The HS-II tuner is really one of the best radio tuners out there (at least for FM broadcasts in Europe).

I can get the cheapest Alpine for about the same price. But the Alpine is not as stylish, minimalistic, clean looking as the JVC unit. And the JVC got a aux input on the front which the Alpine does not. Great for buddies to hook in their mp3-players.

Is this unit pure crap, or is it a safe buy do you think?

ooh, a DAB tuner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif Too bad that won't be coming to the States anytime soon.

Based on specs alone, should be good...although I like Alpine head units a lot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have owned a few jvc's as well as some $1000++ alpine units. For budget there is nothing wrong with a JVC and that unit looks pretty darn good. But even though I like that deck and how it looks I still own two 9843 alpines for my cheaper units if that tells ya anything... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The Alpine CDE-9845RR is 303 USD. (Here in Europe atleaste)

This JVC 611 unit is 270 USD.

And what do I miss out if choosing the Alpine:

- Aux in for connecting my mp3-player

- MOS-FET circuit for good W RMS. (Im not gonna use an external amplifier)

- Slick and much more good looking unit.

- DAB-ready - we already got DAB broadcasts in Sweden.

The Alpine got better sound quality, okay, I buy that. But then again. Im not going for external amplifier and four hundreds speakers and subs. Just gonna use some really good all-range speakers. Maybe the Swedish DLS speakers.

JVC's are decent HUs for the money you pay. I got mine for $150, it's now about 110 / 120 new, and it's worth the price, dispite it's setbacks. You can expect it to be overrated, but then if it's like my JVC KD-G300 it's also giong to be very cleverly designed.
