my first comp

maybe start at the most important part, the box? I doubt most competitors build a single box and have it be their best one. If your serious about competing, you might end up building a half dozen boxes before you find something the subs really like.

I have neither really...that's kind of disappointing. Like telling me I have cancer or something. I know your just telling me what me what I need to hear, but I would expect them to hit higher than 138....it just seems like 2 10s and an audiobaun amp to me.

I based the tuning of the box on the graph that comes with the subs. It would seem that would be the best frequency to tune the box. Why would it not be?

they are more capable, you just need to set you sights at a more achievable goal. and once you have that you set your sights higher. Gotta start from the bottom and work you way up...

I see. I suppose there is not set formula for why I hit so low. I just should "attack" each area and they will work together to improve spl. Improve alt so I don;t have voltage drops, improve dampening, and improve subs...

I just feel bad because I thought my system was good to go and I wouldn't have to worry with it.

if you hope to hit 150, ur gonna need a whole system over haul
Exactly.

I did 150++++ with a single 15" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Mess with the enclosure to see some gains.
I probably built 10+ boxes.

And I messed with all of them too.
hell yeah....im only on my third box for my DD's...

150.6 @ 39hz with 2 12's and only 1400 watts of power.....makes me happy, meh. but it took me time to get a 150.....lots of work and building and testing went into it. took me hrmmm...7 months for me to break my 150...if you ahve time and dedication to it you can do it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It would be a little easier if I had my own mic. Then I could see the adjustments real- time.
always makes it a little easier...

sometimes the smallest things will also get you gains

for me

Open glove box - +.1

Duct tape front edges of box - +.3

Duct tape around port - +.4

Duct tape back edges of box - -.2

Having an asian guy sit on my windshield - +.1

Seats moved around - +.3 (try different positions)

Bunch of random things //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But I am curious why those things help/don't help.

I am also curious as to why watts per sub doesn't seem to be as important as quantity and size of sub. Why if I went with 2 12s with 750 watts, it would not create the same spl as 2 15s with 350w each. It seems the 2 12s would create more SPL because they have more power going to them.
