I had my car tested for the first time today. I expected much more. I hate 138.8. I was hoping for mid 140s. Not to mention that I blew my subs after the show. One voice coil was busted in pieces and the other had the wires all busted off of it. I think the amp is just too much for it. Anyways, I am still looking to hit 150, my goal.

I figure with an alternator upgrade, battery upgrade, and some subs that 1000 watt RMS, I should be close to 150. I am looking seriously at the type x's but also looking at the strokers. I have no care for SQ. I don't compete but I am only looking for SPL.

Does anyone think with the following upgrades I can hit 150. I know that's a big jump. My friend reccomended 15s but I want to be different and go with 12s.

No, but this is what I do know.

Box is tuned to 40 hz because on the graph that came with the sub, that is where peak is.

When I had it tested, it hit peak SPL at 54-55 hz.

- this I don't know why. I set mu subsonic/low pass to 40 hz, my sub hits max spl at 40hz, and my box is tuned to 40hz.

The guy at the mic said my car changes all that. I asked him what I should do. He said, that is why we compete.

turn your SSF down a tad, no need to set it to exact tuning...

54-55hz is a good thing, usualy the higher the peak the better... unless its a crazy 90hz peak or someshit (ive seen it happen)

so that's pretty good....perhaps a sub with a bit more power handling, couple upgrades and I should be much closer.

i did 150 with 2 15s SPL based and 1500watts

vehicals plays a huge factor also

My best friend said that's a factor, plus my lack of dampening material. I want to stick with 12s because he has 15s. Is it that much more difficult to reach a similar mark with 12s vs. 15s even though my amp is much better than his?

could be just as easy to hit the same score depending on what he is running, and in what car also

I drive 89 Cutlass Ciera

He drives 94 Dodge Spirit

yes...we spend 2x more on systems that out car is worth.

unless you have lots of time and money it aint gonna happen, a wall would get you that 150 if done right
