How do you mean further from the port opening? You mean to put it where the amp is and put the amp where the sub is? If so, it is actually quite efficient how it is with the sub boing right at the port opening. Much better for spl purposes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And doesn't affect SQ at all...

I've always been told it's best to keep the sub as far away from the port as possible. I've noticed that many people also build their boxes that way.

Who told you that? Not true in all cases. Like I said before, I found my boxes to be much more efficient when the sub it put by the port wall opening like Mike did.

nope, there is clearance on the top, and the panel is a good inch and a quarter infront of the box so there is plenty of airflow.

haha it almost looks photoshoped, the part aroudn the sub. it is a very snug fit
