that bish liiiiiied!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
you could do a lot of shit but you couldn't drink if you were under 21. i learned the hard way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

it was nice cause they had a pool & hot tub, basketball courts, tennis courts, fitness center, computer lab in the complex. you could have parties all day as long as you were quiet by 1, then you could leave if you wanted.

Well if your dream comes true I hope you can make Disney a little better. I mean it is still the shit but everything is so old, really time for an update.

Look at Universal, Busch Gardens and Sea World always adding new shit..

and I don't mean Animal Kingdom either I mean update the old *** rides at Disney World.

If they updated it that much to the tune of those parks, they wouldnt be a family orientated park....which is their goal.

Many of the people who I work with and go to school with will not even consider Disney because of their issues with the "Disney look" which means no tattoos, no peircings (minus 1 set of ear peircings on women), no long hair, no facial hair, etc. Some people can eek by with a non-visible tattoo or peircings, but the company generally looks down on hiring anyone who doesn't fit their image. I personally hate the entire corporation, but the policies leave some of my coworkers sad since they can't get in the front door even if they buy into everything else Disney sells.

lmao yes the disney look //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif 3 ****ing days talking about the disney look. i can see not having visible tatoos and them wanting you to look presentable, but that can be covered in under half an hour, not 3 days //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

ok, i hate to be a freak and reply to this topic. but my ex girlfriend wanted this as a job.

an imagineer is a "super eliete" person that works for disney, just traveling around the world thinking of cool sh!t to put in an park. different themes from different countries and all that.

granted, it would be a sweet job, but again - disney is quite the curropt company. i had a friend who did the intern thing down there you were talking about, and she said they were assholes. she said they didnt get anything for free at all. not even free passes for a family member to come into the park with them. they were only alowed to come to the park a certain amount of times while off work to enjoy the rides. and the only thing they got were passes to get into the park.

she said cocacola paid their paychecks, not disney - as it was a coke-sponsorship to work at disney. so disney didnt even pay your check.

as far as the imagineer goes, the job you would want[/ I] would be at the top of the chain. not one down on the lower side. im sure it would be cool, but not nearly as cool as you think.

my paycheck was from disney //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

nothing was free. you got an unlimited to place to that one part of the park. i forget the name but it's the place with all the bars and shit, but to go to epcot and shit you only had so many passes, plus they worked you so many hours you never had time to go to the park anyways. imo it's a scam to get cheap labor. hell you even had to pay to use the washer and dryer.

I guess I would be out with my 5 soon to be 6 tattoo's and my facial hair along with me always looking pissed off, lol!

I will admit, I would like to head back there for vakay next year. Take the newborn baby and my fiances two kids who are 10 and 9. I know they would love it. I went there when I was 12 and loved it for the most part, but my parents where like no you can go on that, no you cant eat that, no, no, no!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I was offered a position there a couple years ago as an intern, but turned it down because it would've been a crap job. $7.50 for 40+ hours walking around picking up trash, etc etc in addition to having to abide by Disney rules and pay for an apartment on site.Although it would've been my "foot in the door" I knew that I could do better.
I want to work as an engineer, not trash picker-upper.
So let me get this straight....

you were offered an internship at disney...and expected to be an engineer off the bat? Did you even have a degree in engineering? What job did you think you were going to get as an intern? You do realize that interns are some of the time, volunteers, and only get financial aid? And that they're only there to be used in the future as a hiring base for their higher end jobs?

Looks like you missed out because you expected the job to be much more than what it was...oops. Try being humble //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Sorry to train on your parade, just feeling cynical tonight...

eh this program isn't exactly what you think. it was basically a ploy for disney to get cheap labor. after you were done you could apply for a proffesional internship, but with 5k+ people, it'll be hard to get

I understand why you're saying this. Let me say this now: this post is not targeted directly at you. This is aimed towards anyone who has no idea why you should intern/co-op.

Now then, I didn't expect to become an imagineer off the bat, I DID want to work with engineers though. Hell, I would've taken $6.00/hour if they would've put me in a group with those guys, because at least then I could apply something and gain actual knowledge of that industry. I wanted to get hands-on experience in what they do. See if I would really like that field or not. $5, $7.50, $20/hour...I didn't care. I just wanted to work there in that field. Like I'm doing now....and getting paid 2.5x what I was offered at Disney. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The point of a true internship is to apply what you've learned at school to a position in the field you're majoring in. Not simply pick up a routine part-time job with full-time hours. If I wanted that, I would've stayed at American Eagle. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

In the long run, I've done myself service NOT going to Disney at that point in time. I'm much better off experience-wise, and job-security wise (and financially). I actually know of a co-op at my school who has worked at Disney 3 semesters "to climb the ladder" and isn't even sure they'll hire him on after he graduates. What in the world would he put on his resume when he goes looking for an Engineering position?...He picked up trash and talked to park guests? In case you aren't aware of proper resume writing, you only put in job experience related to the job you are seeking. Fine if you're applying for a "nice person" job, but bad if you want to gain employment in engineering. Oh, and I realize that there are benefits to having Disney on your resume, such as "work ethic", "team work", "confidence", etc, etc. But seriously, wtf writes that on a true resume? That's for you to discuss when at the interview...if you get that far with "Trash Collector".

Why I didn't bother.
