My DEH-P880PRS/CDIB100II review

Im looking for a new deck possibly because I just bought another car and thought about the Pioneer p780mp. I liked everything about it but it doesnt have burr brown dacs and no HD radio. So I thought about the 880 but dont know if i like the display very much and still no HD radio. Then I went on to the DEH-p9800bt and no HD radio. I spend a lot of time in my car, looks like im sticking with kenwood...
p780 has burr brown

...my 880 is the best car audio processor I have ever personally heard, and its better than my two high end home recievers. Booya!
Oh really. You own a Lexicon RV-8, Denon AVR-5805, Integra DTR-10.5 or the sort? Anything else is mid-fi.

Sure, I'll agree the 880 is a good car receiver, but comparing it to a home theater/audio AVR is inane. Unless you brought the 880 into your home, powered it up, then output to your home speakers, then that's be used for comparison purposes. Alternatively, if you brought one of those AVR powerhouses and played it through your car's speakers, then there's a comparison. Don't forget that those AVRs uses world class DACs, digital transmission, and most have complex and sophisticated Room EQ software. Give me a resonablly controlled test comparison --so that the variables are not all over the place-- otherwise, it's just hearsay and moot.

I have a Yamaha and a Denon (receivers), two DVD players, both Denon, standalone power supplies, a 50 inch DLP and a 50 inch Plasma. Not to mention many other goodies that are probably twice as good as anything you have ever owned.

My speakers are Definitive Technology and Kef and my RCAs cost twenty dollars PER FOOT. And yes, I stand by my original statement. My comparasion was of course, hyperbole, seeing that one setup is in my car, and the others in my house. And seeing that you don't even know what is in my car, I have to say that you are a nitpicking arrogant *******.

*******.

with that ipod adapter is it able to have an aux in also? does pioneer make a source selector where i can have an aux in and the ipod adapter? I see IN and OUT on the ipod thing so i figure i can get the ipbus to go into the ipod adapter and still have aux in.

yes, you are correct, you can plug in a aux in into the cd-ib100ii exactly like you would on the back of the headunit, then while scrolling through sources on my 860 it showed tuner, cd, external (ipod), and aux even with nothing plugged into the aux

my overall biggest complaint would be that you can't unplug the final white cord that connects to the ipod itself from the ib100ii......it kinda limits where you can put the box when it comes to crammed dashboards, nothign major, just a kind of annoying feature that pio could have avoided easily

I doubt it. Integra Research RDC 7.1 processor, Integra Research RDA 7.1 amplifier, Panasonic TH-65PHD8UK 65in plasma, Dali Helicons speakers, APC S15 power conditioner/battery backup. All reference equipment.

Home receivers? DefTech? Oooh. Yeah, I'm impressed. Kitty.

AWESOME well that seals the deal omnifi dmp1 and ipod. thanks.

i recently installed an alpine 9857 in my truck. i am fairly happy with it, but some things are really aggrevating. are you able to search artists or songs while in random mode? the full control with the remote would be handy too, not to mention all of the processing that alpine conveniently left out of this year's lineup.
Yes, you can search for songs as normal while in random.

wow

i've got a 27in flat screen w/ 5.1 surround.....my E boner is huge now.....

how is the speed of random/shuffle mode using an ipod or mp3 cd with the 880?

I'm kind of concerned because the two guys I know with aftermarket h/u's have absolutely unacceptable random function, where it can take quite a few seconds to pick a song, both decks will like go through a bunch of numbers kind of like the big wheel on the price is right and finally stop at one.

With thousands of songs I don't want to be waiting between songs as I tend to exclusively use random mode and switch songs a lot.

If it isnt almost instant I don't think I could use the deck controls at all and would hook up my ipod as a generic aux in.

I had a CDIB100 on a DEH-P7500MP but it wasn't really meant for that deck so I bought a 5700 and it works great. Is there any major updates in the vII model?
