First I made this box, which replaced dual SAS EL1204 12s (Sealed in 1.1^ft ea)
This is a Moe box, 2.0^ft at 30hz with an Infinity 1230w
Then I made this one, which is 2.0^ft at 32hz
I changed the Moe box a bit, slightly in tuning, but mainly made it taller and skinnier so I would have more room in the Runner between the storage box and the woofer box.
But, due to the size, I went ahead and made another box, sealed and is at 1.32^ft or 1.25^ft with woofer displacement. I think this is my best looking box made so far… Will look even better when puttied sanded and painted.
I really liked the sealed box when installed because the sloped rear ran with the rear seat and gave me A LOT more room in the rear of my 4runner. But I had to crank the gain up to 3/4, and still did not sound as clean as the vented boxes.
The sealed box sounds good all around at mid volume and good at high volume with Rock and Country. BUT the Vented at 32hz sounds excellent all around and with all music, with the gain at 1/2. The sound is so much cleaner.
I’ve decided to keep the Big Heavy Vented because of the sound. And that’s my opinion.
