My day at the racetrack: pics and vids

This weekend NHRA was at route 66 dragway in joliet, il.

Since today is my birthday I decided to treat myself to a good time at the track. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you guys are into cars and have never been to an NHRA race, boy are you guys missing out! Seeing 7000+ horsepower cars do the quarter mile in 4 seconds at 300+ mph is intense.

Not to mention standing in the pits when they start the cars up. In one instance I was no farther than 10 feet away from a top fuel funny car when they started it up. The sights and sounds are indescribable.

The first startup that I saw today. Check out all the people bailing out after a little bit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif All that nitro burns EVERYTHING. Your eyes are watering, you can't breathe, it's crazy.



I was literally less than 10 feet away from this car when they started it up. 7000+ horsepower! Notice how they have respirators too, otherwise you can't breathe.



And now a few top fuel runs down the track. I have to plug my ears because these cars are so loud.

yah its pretty unbelievable what those cars can do. Couple years ago, I was at an IHRA event and Clay Milliken had a blow over at 250+ That was interesting to say the least. Walking around the pits is great. Nothing like getting gassed by a top fueler!

Idk why but these never did it for me.

I like True Street cars that look more stock than a full out dragster.....but wowzors these things move out.

I wonder if drivers get bruises from the sheer G force on launch

I love all types of cars that can haul ***, but these things are just insane.

been around these a lot since my dad use to be married to John Lingenfelter's (ex pro funny car driver, he passed away in 06') daughter before he married my mom.

everything is blurry next to them lol.
