My cd player wont read it just spits out the cd

My Cd player just stopped working, I put a Cd in and it goes to track one then it goes back to the radio and spts the cd out... Can anyone help?

If it is an old sony I have seen many of them do this, and repair would be more costly than a new one in most cases
