my cars dimming problem

Well what magical device do you know off that will help dimming' date=' if not solve it, besides a batt or an alt since according to you in the above statement a battery will not and since the OP doesnt want an Alt... Enlighten me......[/quote']
I already enlightened the OP. Maybe you should read my post.

Make sure you battery itself isn't crapping out. I had no dimming problems with a yellowtop optima until one day, and I checked the battery and a cell ended up going dead. What does your battery read with your car/all accessories off?

There should be a basic thread for this information.

You should always upgrade the big 3 if you have not.

You should also check all wiring connections and ensure all grounds are properly attached.

Check your battery to ensure it is still up to par and check your alt as well.

Once all that is done figure out where the issue is and repair/replace/upgrade that.

Obviously this... I did forget to ask about big 3 but I figured after having done a couple installs he would have a good ground already found...

9 times out of 10 if their grounds are good and big 3 is done, they are clipping. Getting rid of clipping and proper wiring will almost always run systems less than 1500w on stock alt.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE what ever you do OP, don't listen toy your local shop and get a capacitor. Proper wiring and grounds with a battery(or 2) and a higher charging Alt is a cool place to start. If that doesn't help, take a DMM and hit all the circuits in your fuse boxes to find the circuit that is shorting and correct it. But all in all, you will need a batt and a higher amp alt for your powering needs, especially when you step up and get more power for the subs that are starving for it!

He very well may, however, some time what looks good while installing may turn out not so good. I have had it happen where I have grounded too turned out not be so good. Some times you just over look things as well. No one is above that issue as we all make mistakes.

I just meant if he had a bad ground you figured he would have already had issues even thou it wasnt as much power previously...

I agree, after doing some installs you would think it would have been caught.

However, on the same hand, he has done a few installs and he has not had that issue because he ensures he has good grounds then he would look over that as not a possible option since he has not had an issue such as that.

Another thing to think about is this. Installing is easy no matter what anyone says it just is. The issue is trouble shooting if/when something is not correct. Many people do not understand the process of trouble shooting and may miss or skip steps when trying to locate the problem.

better n Reverse is a cool guy but his answer to every question seems to be "more power and more batteries"

e-crack seems to be having a bad day cause he was being quite snippy in another thread today as well, he is normally a bit less abrasive.

As for the OP I wonder if upgrading the positive wire from the battery (or alt depending on car) to the under hood main fuse panel would help?

That is also known as the 'Big 4'

Nah, misinformation is one of my pet peeves. It's not helpful. I just told him his suggestion was bad and then he got really defensive because his e-ego was hurt.

i dont need/want a bigger amp. and i thought the 10w7's recommended power was around 500-750 a piece? im giving them 500 a piece now give or take. I have a 91 accord that the jl was in and i have 4gauge power and ground big 3 and i have very minimal dimming off of a interstate battery and the stock alt. It could very well be the red top, especially since i had the dimming problem with the alphasonik pushing the subs. I have checked and re checked the grounds, the terminals have no corrosion in them at all. Im not going for spl i just wanted a nice clean tigh sound. These are my 1st jl amps and my 1st pair of w7's. from what i have heard so far it sounds just the way i have been wanting it to, its just the crazy dimming.
