i just got my cap! ok i got a couple questions. can i use the same ground as the amps? can i use the cap right away? or do i have to wait for a specific time? i just connect the cable from the battery and then to the amp right?thanks for the help!

If you have a 12v test light handy you can use that. Simply ground the cap. Then put the test light inline between the 12v wire and the cap. When the light goes out your cap is charged //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No sh-t? I have a nice Snap On test light, and I would much rather use that than the P.O.S resistor they gave me to charge my cap. The thing is so little, it would be really clumsy to handle, considering how hot they get.

Thanks for the input. Any chance I could blow out the bulb doing this? Just want to be sure.

I believe it's only going to take about 15-30 seconds to charge, but you need some type of resistance in the flow of current when you charge it. Hence the resistor, or test light. It isn't going to take very long.

What kind of cap? Most come with the little charging resistor, but I'm definitely going to be using my test light. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yes, that's a test light, looks like an Awl, actually, but who wants to split hairs.

I think you can just get a resistor at any electronics store. Someone else could tell you what to ask for specifically. I can't remember off the top of my head.

Yeah, you want everthing hooked up. You'll ground the cap, but leave the power wire disconnected. Then, you'll put the resistor on the positive terminal of the cap, and place the power wire onto the wire coming out of the resistor. It will light up. Once the light goes out, like 30 seconds or so, give or take, it will be fully charged.

Don't worry about the wire going from the cap to the amp. Disconnect the other wire leading from your power source to the cap. You can pick up a test light at advance for a couple of dollars. It's well worth it in the end. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so i disconnect the wire. add the power wire that i have in the ca run it to the cap and then the cap to the amp. i dont understand were the tester comes in. i turn on the radio and while everything first turns on touch the terminal with the tester?
