My Budget Setup..

This system was designed to be heavy hitting as I am big on techno/trance/hip-hop.

Any pointers or tips or possible improvements are greatly appreciated. All prices include shipping.

Headunit: Jensen vm9311ts - $370.00

Speakers: One pair of Polk db650. (A Second Pair Will Probably be added later.) $70.00 For a pair on ebay

Subs - A Pair of Kicker CompVR 05CVR122 - $149.00 (Buy one get one free on Crutchfield.com atm)

Amp for subs- PYLE PLA2280 2 CH CAR AMP AMPLIFIER 1000W ($90.00 On Ebay)

I am planning to purchase an amp for the speakers later when I buy the second pair.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Polk dB650's ****, get Pioneer REV's. I put 2 pair of the dB650's in the GF's car based upon a lot of good feedback as I had no local place to test them. NOT impressed at all with the sound they produce. Not very loud and sound hollow.

I have REV's in the rear of my car and they are NICE budget coax's. Loud and clean when you crank them up.

Profile makes some decent budgetm amps, give them a look.

i disagree whole-heartedly.... these are very nice sounding coax's for the price. Hollow? they are known for good midbass and ok highs.

i don't think that those real cheap screens are worth it. i say save up for a better one, or just buy a regular HU. for $300 you can get a really nice deck, rather than a crappy one that happens to display poor quality video.

If you need a cheap screen, look into Kenwood Excelon stuff or even the JVC stuff has been impressing me lately.

As for the amp, A monstrously dependable amp for a little more $ - Phoenix Gold Xenon line stuff. Their 600.1 amp has been benched fairly high. Generally 650 at 4 ohm load though.

They display good quality video. They just don't have any eq'ing features whatsoever. Their preout voltage is pretty much non-existant. Their remote turn on circuit can barely handle the current draw of one amplifier. They sound okay on a completely stock system though.

the jensen has a good picture, but as stated the preouts pfff, gonna need a line driver to boost the volts to your amp, and that unit doesnt allow you to fast foward on mp3 files or video files, just so you know in advance

roughly 550$ for a unit with great features.

Or:

Clarion DXZ865MP - 300-ish and It has GREAT options stock, and tons of add-ons for later on. Great starter deck for an amplified system.

Speakers: One pair of Polk db650. (A Second Pair Will Probably be added later.) $70.00 For a pair on ebay

A: Good deal. I would opt for the DB6500 componenets if feasible. Another great option is to get the Phoenix Gold ZR componenets off of Ebay. Cheap, decent sound and can be amped. They go for roughly 80$ E-bay and Phoenix Gold is very reliable, even if they aren't outstanding. It's going to be playing techno anyways, you want the components.

Subs - A Pair of Kicker CompVR 05CVR122 - $149.00 (Buy one get one free on Crutchfield.com atm)

A: That is about as good as you get on those Kickers. If your going for absolute budget, try once again the Phoenix Gold ZR line subs. they are nearly the same RMS, a tad more sensitive (more loudness per watt) and are going for roughly 120 shipped.

Amp for subs- PYLE PLA2280 2 CH CAR AMP AMPLIFIER 1000W ($90.00 On Ebay)

This unit probably runs about 185-ish RMS per channel. If it doesn't let the smoke out upon powering up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A: Ohh boy, ya. Drop the Pyle. I'd rather see this in your trunk. http://www.millionbuy.com/adbdub2801.html. Anyways, the Power Acoustike SL2-2000 is a better bet and it has exactly what you are looking for powerwise. The build quality on their stuff isn't great but they are reliable(for the price) and do what they need to. I have a POS bottom line PA in the Gf's car, and she loves it. The SL2-2000 will run you 150$ plus shipping.

Also, for what you are looking at, maybe try the PA SL2-1000. That is going to be roughly the same performance as the Pyle your looking into.

This is just what I would do.

I would save up and splurge for the deck. I've learned the hard way that this is by far the best route, and the deck is the most important part of your system. Without a good deck that your 100% satisified with, you'll always want better and be less than 100% satisified with it.

As far as other items: Same thing. I'd get the speakers next. Might I suggest getting replacement rear speakers, even if they are going to be just deck powered. Alpine Type-S is a good choise for this coaxial Then the sub, box and amp all at the same time. Do not forget to tack on roughly 75$ for amp install kit, extra power wire (for the second amp you install) and 3 RCA's (might I suggest the Scosche Twisted RCA's, 17 foot if your running to the trunk) to top the system off.

Got a link or two for that JVC, hell I'm interested, LOL

Wow, thanks a lot for all the help. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I just have a few questions because I am not sure I follow you 100%.

First, on the subs, I could get a pair of those Phoenix's on ebay for $65 shipped each on eBay. The kickers I had were buy-one-get-one-free for $150 from Crutchfield.com. I am wondering if I should go ahead and buy the kickers and spend an extra $20 knowing I am buying from a reputable website, as well as a name brand. However, I could be 100% wrong because I do not know that much about car stereos that is why I am asking. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So you are saying I should go ahead with the stock head unit until I can afford the one I want. So I should buy the pair of subs, a sub box, an amp for the subs, a pair of speakers first, and just run the speakers off the Head unit? And later add an extra pair of speakers and an amp for the speakers and a head unit?

Thanks for any more advice.

He is saying to save alittle money first and spend it on the hu and then the speakers and so on and so on, so that you piece the system together part by part. Phoenix Gold are name brand and they are pretty good subs, if you would rather save the money i would buy them, just make sure the guy ur buying from on ebay has good feedback.
