i started up my truck....and went to the back opened the gate and my amp started to smoke a little bit....i ran up quick and shut the truck off. i looked at it and it's in a small compartment....and it seemed to be a little wet. i drove to the shop with the radio off....when i get there i turn on the radio to see what would happen and it played fine....but it makes a little bit of a whine sometimes now....what should i do?....im going to move it to a more open area...i think it was sweeting....

EDIT:......just moved to an open spotm, got it dry and the whining stopped....if anybody has anyfeed back let me know....

i had that happen to my hifonics amp. same thing, turned car on and poof, i didt get it. though i was in miami humid and hot as hell that day, and the amp didt have condensation. sent it in for repair and said it was blown input section or something, i cant remember, sorry not much help.

Take it apart and look on the inside for sure. A friend of mine found water near his amp and got smoke coming out of it. Opened the beast up and it had formed a small layer in spots of corrosion like what you would see on top of a battery. Maybe there is a small amount inside there that you could see. That's My best guess.

did your amp still work tho?....mine seems to work fine....

yeah actually. till some crazy *** miami driver cut me off making me brake hard as hell. the amp was mounted close to the back seats so it grounded out on them and then it didt lol. yeah they fixed it no problem though.

You realize the case doesn't carry power correct? so the case itself can't get grounded out

so how would you explain a burn mark on the front of the amp were it hit the seat? i heard it hit, then i heard resistors popping and smoke. wires were still securely in place and fine. idk.

cia engineering is NOT great. search about those scumbags, they ****ed around several members of this forum, including myself.

to have a true professional fix your amp, contact steve mantz from zed audio.
