My audiobahn 1800 mono amp goes into protection everytime i hook it up. I got it running through a monster cable 20 volt 1 farad powercap. The cap is only running 12.7 volts, so it might not have enough voltage i suppose. I then tried running it straight through to the battery, through a 150 amp circuit breaker of course, but it still went into protection mode. Do i just need more juice?

thanks

thanks

what kind of subs do u have running to it?? u may have a too low of impendence therfore it would go into protection mode

um, 2 ohm dvc kicker L7 subs wired in series would run at four ohms. in parallel they would run at one ohm. but if its one ohm stable, shouldnt make a difference. could be a baqd amp, or the wires running to the subs could be shorting out

get a bigger fuse for your power wire, i had the same thing happen with my avionixx and a new fuse fixed it in a second. i just did it with my pals amp last night too, new fuse, a bigger one, check it out.

no 2 of the 2ohm dvc subs would make 2 ohms in series and .5 ohm in parallel.

then i wouldn't recommend putting a bigger fuse in the amp. the fuse is there to let only a certain amount of current into the amp and if it gets too much she'll burn up. a bigger fuse in the power wire could help maybe.

i'm guessing the amp has to be bad if ur sure u have the wiring right.

i got it a little farther today, i recharged my cap, and got it up to 14 volts. The digital read out on the amp now turns on and it reads 14, but the protection is still on, and i have a 150 amp circuit breaker, so i'm sure my fuse is good. All this talk about having a bad amp ain't doin me any good, i bought it on ebay, so i can't like get another one or anything, why doesn't anybody think the undercurrent protect is just comin on because i don't have enough juice for it?

yah, well, the only other thing hooked up to the amp would be the speakers, and yah, that was the next thing i tried, unhooking both the positive and negative speaker wires, and it still goes into protection
