My aftermarket speakers aren't playing

I have just installed my new pioneer 6x8 speakers to replace my factory speakers. Once I finished and tested them, there was no sound however my sub's which are on a different amp played. The amps share a single set of RCA's (thanks to rca splitters). The amp is for my pioneers is a clarion 4 channel and the light is red when its powered on. My head unit is a sony aftermarket so it isn't stock. Will I have to bypass something in order for my pioneers to work?

Is the Clarion amy light supposed to be red and not green? Amp not going into protect is it?

i agree you should verify the amp isn't in protect mode. you can disconnect all speakers from the amp and see if it powers up green. if so, you likely have a short in the speaker wiring (can happen if a connector pops loose and grounds out to the metal door or speaker frame).

at speaker connections, there shouldn't be any bare wire shown and it's good practice to use electrical tape over the connections for insulation and adhesion (heat shrink is better).

if you have a short, a DMM can measure resistance on the speaker wires (across pos and neg). anything less than 1 ohm is a short.

They play now but for some reason it sounds muffled. They play bass clear but the voices are very cloudy/low in comparison. IMA play with the high pass filter but I noticed I'm hearing a weird "hum/static" along with the speakers and even when the engine isn't on. My RCA's are connected.

likely the tweeters aren't working. did you use factory wiring? does the car have a factory amp?
what did you do to get them working?

did they have separate tweeter inputs? what was the model number of the speakers?
Factory wiring: no I disconnected the wiring and when I put the new speakers in I ran my aftermarket wires from the speakers to the amp.

Factory amp: no, only my 4 channel amp, my mono amp Amd the head unit.

To work: double checked the wiring. Still muddy sounding but the bass plays clear. The voices can be heard but the bad is like 4 times louder.
