My 8" Challenge is COMPLETE

^^^ Designs are soooo similar, I cant see how there could be that big of a difference.........
^ thats what i would imagine

Cam, your review really makes me want to get a pair of 1008's or SD208's...

i own a pair of eD 9kv3's cus they were cheap from the forum discount, i agree with you that the sq is definitely there where as the output leaves ALOT to be desired...but since you said that the DD's are tons better then the 9kv2's, that makes the DD's or SD208's very tempting...

do you think the DD's have the potential to get lower with some breaking in and a low tuned ported box? i know DD wants 40 but maybe 35 or something like that...

I think that if you were to throw a 1008a in a ported box you would see great results...... Do I think it will get lower with time in a sealed enclosure, yes but not much lower......

I wasnt aware that it was possible to have athority down to 20Hz with a 0.65cuft sealed box and an 8.
IMO athority means no more than -3dB.
-3dB is easy in the car with an 8 sealed. What you have to consider is -3dB from what level. It's hard to really get authority with a single sealed 8 at any frequency. You will have trouble getting the raw output to FEEL the music. You'll hear the notes and know that they're being reproduced it just isn't going to grab you by the collar and slap you around. Such are the limitations of a single small driver.

1008's sound great, to me at least, in a ported enclosure. I have my two 1008's in a 2.4^3 ft tuned to 35hz with about 900watts going to both, they get low and loud. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others if you wanted to go with 8's.

no, remember i told you the spec on the web site was wrong? cmp is about as deep and the 1008, i've had both.
Dammit why wasnt I listening???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif  Oh well its almost too late now. If I were to listen to it I would hae to have it in the mail on WED (goes for the SSi also). I need to start the rebuild soon.......
