my 15"s arnt getting enough power..i think...help

my sig should show what i got.. my problem is simple, i blast it for 10 minutes no problems then it gives out, no bass at all for around 5-10 seconds, then comes back on, and repeats this until i let it rest...

I'm using my old 8 gauge wires would rewiring 4 gauge fix this problem? would i need a capacitor? not sure yet what my alternator ampage is have not checked yet could get that info if anyone wants to help and get in depth.

Pretty much just want to give my subs enough power to blast for longer than 10 minutes at a time, and possibly able to crank it louder cause when i really crank it, it gives out sooner and skips back and forth from sounding real nice, to nothing.

Was also thinking about hooking up my little old MTX tc4001 400 watt amp to my rear MTX speakers to give it more back thump to go with he subs, and was wondering if i would need a capacitor if i was running 2 amps any help appreciated.

Run 0 gauge not 4

Also find out how many amps your alt is and do the big three.

You are probably going to need another battery as well if you dont already have one.

um so you have a 150 x2 amp that is bridged to 2 subs, probbaly amp is seeing too low of an impendance and shutting down. Try to run one channel to each sub so they are getting the 150 each and see if it shuts off then.

Definitly get 1 guage wiring the kits are 100 from parts express.

You probbaly dont have enough power to begin with and then I bet you have the amp up pretty high and the amp itself is cutting out from thermal protection.

How are your subs wired, are they DVC and at what impedance?

definitly dont waste your money on a Cap, get 1 guage caps are worthless pretty much.

hopefully you have dual 4 ohm subs then you can wire each channel to 2 ohms and get 230 x 2 and amp will stay on.

Try the Big 3 and 0g wire first, if you still have problems look into another battery & bigger alt

That is a pretty decent size alt. You might be able to get away with 0 gauge run/big three/Good battery under the hood and a battery in the trunk.

not sure about the wiring i dont know what impedence or dvc is, but the amps

actually set really low but it still really bumps and it dosnt even shut off completely,

just cuts out for a few seconds, i didnt wire it myself so i dont know about all the wiring specs

I bet his gains are cranked. That amp only produces 460 watts@4 ohms bridged. Not always but usually an amp goes into protect pretty quick if the subs are wired wrong, but Im not ruling that out. Hell, they might be wired wrong WITH the gains cranked. We need more info, it could be a power problem, but I seriously doubt it on 460 watts.

i think he means that his specs on the subs are 800 watts. I dont think that amp puts out nearly 800.

8 gauge wire is probably not the problem then. Like avs said check your wiring.

Try this, I just thought about it when I looked at the amp you have. Un-bridge the amp, run each speaker to its own channel, I think you have the independence to low while it's bridged. Your amp is only 4 ohm stable in bridged mode. I had a Jensen amp that I done the same thing with, took about 2 months till it melted down. As a "guess" I'm guessing you have 2 4-ohm SVC subs, which when run together to your amp you'll have 2ohms. (I know I totally worded that wrong, but you get the picture)

I have the KAC-7203.. and at 500 watts @ 4 ohms I have it hooked up to a Dual 4 ohm Type R.... I had the same problem with it cutting out, make sure your impedance is correct on the subs... Because it caused my amp to overheat and go into protect for a few seconds just like yours. Now that I unbridged the sub and just have it hooked up to 1 channel I haven't had a problem since.

oh thats good news then, but i dont know how to turn it to 1 channel or what that

means, do you mean get another amp for the other woofer so they both have their

own or ?

amazing that people came up with the same idea I did after reading my post! people still thought you were giving then 800 per woofer after I clearly stated it is a 150 x 2 amp. You people thinkyou have all the answers but your not helping if you dont read the post.
