Eagles-Hell Freezes Over. Great Acoustic, and plenty of imaging with the melodies and harmonies of the different guitars.

Pink Floyd-Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of The Moon. Both excellent albums for an entire run through. Plenty of panning and instrumentation variety. My favorite thing to do with these is have the 360 display a visualization spacy in nature and just kind of lose myself.

Across the Universe OST- Brilliant covers of all the Beatles' hits sung by very talented singers. The instrumentation is incredibly varied and the vocals range all over the place. The imaging isn't as great as others, but the variety in music makes up for it.

Disturbed - down with the sickness......Killer drums to test your midbass and will play VERY loud on a good system

Sinead o'connor - nothing compares........very nice vocals on that one

patrice rushen - forget me nots.....clean/hard hitting bass line, pretty dynamic, and good vocals

poison - nothing but a good time....killer kick drums, blaring guitars, and just a cool song to rock out to

Heart - crazy on you.....vocals and drums

ZZtop - jesus just left chicago

Feist - The Reminder
Excellent vocals and melody. Great album to listen to straight through.

x2, I love it. Its a very beautiful album. Not the greatest quality, but it brings a smile to my face //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Alan Parsons -

Eye in the Sky HDAD release.

I Robot HDAD release.

Games People Play HDAD release.

These releases are highly recommended for anyone with a DVD-Audio capable player. These are 2 sided discs. One side is compatible with DVD-Audio and is 24bit with a 192khz sampling frequency and the opposite side is compatible with DVD-Video players and is 24bit with a 96khz sampling frequency. There is NO 5.1 mix. It is straight from the 2 channel master tapes. So much in fact that you can sometimes hear a little hiss and an occasional analog tape bump. I was disappointed at that at first but you get to hear every ounce of the original tape that it didn't matter to me anymore. These are PURE copies of the analog masters and anyone familiar with the APP know that this music is very involved and anything but straight forward or boring.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!

I'll add more recordings at a later time.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I just remembered one -- Dave Matthews Band "Crash". Some albums become quite critical with high end speakers and the recording flaws can get annoying, but this one seems to highlight the best aspects of the system no matter what you're playing on.

I'll second Adam on the Alan Parsons. I have not listened to the HD remasters but all Alan Parsons stuff is recorded and produced extremely well with great quality. Alan Parsons was known for his excellent and detailed production and his albums show it, even the old regular releases.

Parsons also created the "Sound Check" album which is a set of test tones, recording samples, and songs he created for calibrating and evaluating recording and playback equipment. It is a useful album for DIY'ers or even just critcal listeners. The availability is really limited for purchase by there is a FLAC version floating around somewhere on the internets.

Wow someone mentioned Tantric, completely forgot about them, but I bet it would be an excellent midbass test, the recording quality of their acoustic intros is very good.

As odd as it is, I have come to realize that, more often than not, metal and hardcore music is one of the best indicators of system quality. Reason:Sometimes even cheap systems can make slow paced songs with a narrower frequency range sound good. But, it takes a NICE system to make something with a HUGE range of frequencies all being played at the same time sound good.

I have never encountered a system that could make quality metal and hardcore sound good, but fail with slower paced music; however, the inverse happens quite frequently.

My personal favorite relaxing/non-metal test songs (song title, not albums):

Black Sabbath- N.I.B. (amazing for higher range testing. Also, if the intro sounds good, you have a nice sub stage; its a distorted bass guitar with some VERY low frequencies)

Filter- God **** Me (awesome quality, great test of everything)

Filter- The Missing (same as above but not as much mid, very relaxing)

Ill Nino - With You (soft vocals, lots of spanish guitar, not much high end, but its great for the more mellow ranges)

Favorite 'more hardcore' stuff for testing:

-Haventt listened to much lately, and recording quality usually isn't as good. Im looking around for some examples now.

A metal instrumental would be best so you arnt distracted by the lyrics, but I cant find any.

Slipknot- Three Nill (Just the first minute and a half or so).

Sum 41- The Bitter End (pretty wide frequency range, not always holistic though)

System of A Down- Bubbles (wide range, don't have to listen to the whole thing, it gets repetitive)

I enjoy Legion of Boom. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
