Music Recording options

Just wondering what some options are for recording music on my pc. What are some good brands and also brands to really stay away from etc. I have sony acid pro. I am looking at this here soundcard:

Wondering if anyone has used it or something similar.

Looks like it will do the job but I don't really know much about these... My price range is about 200 max.

what kind of music? i use an external sound card, line 6, but it's a midi controller as well. lil' more pricey though... maybe 300. the one in the link looks fine though, maybe check out your local music store and see what they recommend if it has to be internal...

Doesn't have to be internal. What do you use the midi controller for? I though midi was that gay *** fake computer elevator music? Mostly I will be recording acoustic guitar, djembe , digierdoo, vocals and I will attempt to record piano at some point even though I know it won't be right.

I was also thinking of picking up one or maybe two or the shure sm57 mics...if you can recommend something better for the money then I might listen.
