Music on storage devices Vs CD's

Wish I knew somewhere to DL .wav files. I'm too broke to buy every GD CD I could possibly want lol

Tool is always my go-to band when I can't decide what to listen to. Not too much music that comes even close to their level (similar genre that is)

I've been doing the highest quality VBR I can, as opposed to 320 bitrate constant. Would it be better for me to do constant? Somebody told me VBR is just as good and potentially even better at some parts in the music but takes up less space, were they incorrect?

That was me, if you're talking about it being on this site.

Cd's are cheap now and you can get them used on Amazon many for 3-5$ shipped

I get most music off of Vuze and can almost always find atleast 320, but no idea where to get .wav from.

Not quite the same genre, but i've been liking Avenged Sevenfold alot. Nightmare is a solid album.

I was talking to a guy a few months ago and he told me how he felt about compressed music and how it cheapens everything artists have worked for. I am inclined to agree if you have sensitive enough speakers you can hear a noticible loss in clairity when you play compressed music files. I made an effort to buy CD's and then save the music as .wav files. Completely uncompessed music that I saved to a 32gb microSD card.
What I didn't know at the time was that head units that can play from storage devices (SD cards, USB, etc.) have limits on how fast the data can be retireved from the device. This transfer rate is around 1/3 slower than the transfer rate from a CD to the HU. The music sounds better than a 128kb/s mp3 but not as good as the CD.

Its disappointing that we have to juggle CD's in our cars if we want to get the best SQ out of our decks.
You are mistaken sir, the transfer rate would depend ENTIRELY on the usb port your HU has man. I have an alpine CDA105 and ALL my usb music sounds better then any cd. Store bought or burned at 320kb, all my files are .mp3 or .mp4 via ipod and usb. My digital files sound much warmer and 3d then any cd ive heard heard in my car

Now i cant speak for your unit or anyone elses, but i garrentee you sitting in my truck. Music sounds better off my ipod or flash drive then a CD. And ive got a decent daily driver SQL setup

I have to try something different then, I guess I was offbase on the problem... Could it be the audio processor in the HU somehow treats SD card music differently?

exactly, it all depends on the audio processor of your unit for sq. In terms of transfer rate it would be limited to what version usb port your unit has and even then it rely's on the processor to keep up with that connections max rate. But i have heard very large differences in unit changes, after all its the main sound processor for your entire system man. Its like being mad music sounds bad on your computer because you have $2,000 surround sound system but a $10 sound card in your tower lol If you know computers any better, if not i guess that comparison dosnt help lol

also my eclipse unit hated aux cable and my alpine i get great sq threw it. WHat unit are u running?
