Multiple Subs?

Basically, heat makes the voice coil's impedance increase. Higher impedance means less output from the amplifier. In other words, you do not gain the same amount of increase in output going from 1,000 watts to 1,001 watts as you would going from 1 watt to 2 watts. Heat decreases efficiency, basically.
So... having more motors to spread the heal throughout means more surface area on voice coils to dissipate this heat, meaning less impedance rise and greater efficiency of your watts.
The 1 to 2 vs. 1000 to 1001 watt is a terrible example. 1 watt to 2 is doubling power and is theoretically a 3dB gain. 1000 watts to 1001 is a tiny tiny percentage with an impercepible dB gain, really nothing to do with power compression here.

Then give us your example of power compression at work.
